French Toast Sticks Ingredients

What are french toast sticks made of? Our recipe uses the following ingredients:

  • Brioche bread
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Butter
  • Maple syrup

These easy french toast sticks use a classic mixture of eggs whisked with milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg for a sweet and spiced flavor. The brioche bread provides enough sweetness on its own that you don’t even need extra flavorings like vanilla or sugar! Since this recipe is very simple, you can easily make french toast dippers whenever the craving strikes.

You’ll need butter for melting over a cast iron griddle or large skillet to cook the french toast on – this is what helps give french toast sticks their lightly crisped golden-brown exterior. And last but not least, don’t forget the maple syrup for dipping!

How To Make French Toast Dippers

Making french toast dipping sticks is really no different from making regular french toast. The only thing you’ll do differently is slice the bread into strips! Here’s a full breakdown of how to make delicious homemade french toast sticks:

  1. Slice brioche bread into strips, about a half inch thick by one inch wide. Use a long, sharp chef’s knife to make clean cuts and avoid tearing the bread.
  2. Whisk the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large, shallow dish until combined.
  3. Preheat a cast iron griddle over medium heat and melt butter over it, spreading it around to coat the pan completely.
  4. Next, work in batches to coat each of the french toast sticks in the egg wash. Coat both sides of the sticks, then let excess egg wash drip off before transferring to the hot pan. Cook in batches as needed until the bottoms of the french toast sticks are golden brown and lightly crisped, then flip and cook until the other sides are golden brown and crisped.
  5. Serve hot with maple syrup for dipping.

  • Brush the cooked french toast sticks with melted butter, then toss them in cinnamon sugar
  • Top them with or dip them in whipped cream
  • Serve french toast sticks with other fun dips like Nutella or marshmallow fluff
  • Dust them with powdered sugar

Get creative and embellish your homemade french toast dippers with whatever toppings and dips you love the most. You can even serve them alongside other breakfast favorites, like bacon, eggs, and fresh fruit, for a delectable Sunday brunch.
