If you’re tired of using store-bought jarred pizza sauce (or pasta sauce…) for your homemade pizza nights, switch things up with our easy pizza sauce recipe! It’s only 6 ingredients and comes together in about 12 minutes, with minimal effort.

In our opinion, a good pizza sauce should complement the dough, cheese, and toppings and be flavorful without being overpowering. It should be noticed in every bite, but at the same time blend into the background and let the toppings shine. So we developed a super simple, bare-bones pizza sauce recipe that does just that.

Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce Ingredients

There are only 6 ingredients in our pizza sauce recipe:

  1. Olive oil
  2. Garlic
  3. Crushed tomatoes
  4. Tomato puree
  5. Sea salt
  6. Basil

Really, it’s only 5 ingredients if you count crushed tomatoes and tomato puree as one ingredient, tomato. And do oils and seasonings even count as ingredients? They sure don’t on Guy’s Grocery Games

Either way, this tasty pizza sauce comes together quickly and will be ready to use on your favorite homemade pizza after just a few minutes of cooling. Or, if you’re prepping ahead of time, you can store it in an air-tight container for up to 1 week in the fridge or up to 3 months in the freezer!

Side note: This pizza sauce also makes a delicious dip for mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, breadsticks, pizza crust, garlic knots… really anything you’d normally dip in marinara. So if you don’t use all 2 cups on pizza night, store the rest in the fridge and treat yourself to a late night snack the next day!
