I had some Honeycrisp apples I needed to use before they went bad so I decided to make this super easy-to-make Cinnamon Apple Cobbler. You can however use whatever kind of apples you have on hand for this recipe.

Cobbler is often served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream so make sure you have some on hand when you make this recipe. I was a little curious where the word “cobbler” came from so I decided to look it up. I found this article on the origins of cobbler.

bisquick batter for apple cobbler

As I mentioned above, I used Honeycrisp apples for this apple cobbler as that is what I had on hand. A couple of good alternatives for this recipe would be some granny smith apples or some Golden Delicious Apples. These apples all hold up well during baking.

If you don’t have any Bisquick on hand, you can make your own by combining 1 Cup All Purpose Flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder, 1/2 teaspoon Salt and 1 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter (or vegetable oil).

If you like your cobbler to be extra sweet I suggest you add a little more sugar to the apples as well as the batter. Since I am diabetic I try when I can to use the least amount of sugar I can without comprising the flavor of the dish.

So delicious. I had never used bisquick in this manner before, but it was very moist. Will use this method again.
