Bacon Cheese Loaded Tater Tots Ingredients

It’s almost all in the name – these cheesy loaded tater tots are made with only 4 ingredients:

  • Frozen tater tots
  • Bacon
  • Velveeta cheese
  • Scallions

It doesn’t get much easier than that, which makes these cheesy loaded tater tots one of the best late night snacks – or party appetizers!

How To Make Easy Cheese And Bacon Loaded Tater Tots

The best part about these loaded cheesy tater tots is how easy they are to throw together. If you happen to have leftover bacon and scallions in your fridge and are wondering what to do with them, it’s the perfect time to make these ultimate loaded tater tots!

Here’s how to make the best loaded tater tots:

  1. First, cook frozen tater tots according to the package instructions. We recommend cooking them in the air fryer (400 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes, shake halfway through) so they’re super crispy.
  2. If you have leftover bacon, chop into small bits. If not, chop uncooked bacon into small pieces and then fry over medium-high heat until crispy. Drain excess grease on paper towels.
  3. Then, cube the Velveeta cheese.
  4. Next, add the tater tots to an oven-safe baking dish and top evenly with the Velveeta cubes and bacon bits.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes, until the cheese is gooey and melted.
  6. Finally, top with sliced scallions and serve hot!

Honestly, these bacon cheese loaded tater tots are best served and enjoyed family-style right out of the dish they were baked in. Just grab a few forks (or one, we don’t judge) and dig in!

Bacon Cheese Loaded Tater Tots

These bacon cheese loaded tater tots are the ultimate indulgent late night snack – super gooey and savory, and super easy to make with only 4 ingredients.
Servings 2 servings
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen tater tots
  • 4 pieces bacon
  • 3 ounces Velveeta
  • 2 scallions sliced

Instructions

  • Bake or air fry frozen tater tots according to package directions.
  • In the meantime, preheat oven to 375 degrees F and prepare the bacon. Chop uncooked bacon into pieces and fry over medium-high heat until crispy, then drain excess grease on paper towels. If you have leftover cooked bacon, simply chop into small pieces and set aside.
  • Slice the Velveeta into approximately half-inch cubes.
  • Transfer the cooked tater tots to an oven-safe baking dish. Evenly distribute the Velveeta cubes over the tots, then top with bacon bits.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and gooey, about 10 minutes.
  • Top with sliced scallions and serve immediately.

Notes

Frozen tater tots: We recommend cooking your tots in the air fryer if you have one, since they get extra crispy this way. Air fry them at 400 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking them halfway through.
Bacon: This recipe becomes even easier if you already have cooked bacon in the fridge! Simply chop it up and use it as a topping on the tots before baking. If you don’t have cooked bacon, you can chop it and fry the bacon bits while the tater tots are cooking.
Variations: The beauty of loaded tater tots is how customizable they are! If you want this to be a super easy late night snack, use whatever cheese and toppings you have laying around in the fridge. Shredded cheese won’t be quite as gooey as Velveeta, but it’s still delicious on tater tots. Sub bacon for leftover taco beef, sausage, or chorizo for a fun twist. And you can try fresh toppings like guacamole or pico de gallo instead of scallions!
