Cheeseburger Sliders With Hawaiian Rolls Recipe

This Cheeseburger Sliders with Hawaiian Rolls recipe uses the popular TikTok hack, making it easy to make 12 sliders at once.

Cheeseburger sliders piled on top of each other with the words "Cheeseburger Sliders (made with Hawaiian rolls)" digitally written on top.

Last year, my friend taught me his brother’s Hawaiian roll sandwich trick. Not too long after, TikTok went wild after it discovered the same hack.

Basically, you make one sandwich, then cut it into 12, along the perforations of the rolls. That way, you’ve made a dozen sandwiches in the time that it took to make one sandwich.

And yes, I’m saying sandwich because I learned this trick using cold cuts to make our Turkey Club Hawaiian Roll Sliders Hack. We use that hack in our Sausage And Peppers Hawaiian Roll Sliders recipe too.

But this version is actually a cheeseburger slider made with ground beef. Pete came up with the idea and I figured out how to make it. It came out so good and it’s our go to party recipe now.

Beef is expensive right now, but you can still enjoy it frugally with one of these 10 Budget-Friendly Beef Recipes.

If you have leftover beef after you’re done making this Cheeseburger Sliders recipe, you can use it in one of these Budget-Friendly Beef Recipes.

Remove the entire thing from the pan. Now, this is where the hack comes in.

Carefully cut the sandwiches along the perforations to make 12 identical sandwiches.

Grilled Cheeseburger Sliders:

If you wanted to make these on a grill instead of in the oven, you could do that. Once you’ve assembled the sliders in the cake pan, bring it out to the grill and set the pan on the grates.

The grill will cook the sliders faster than the oven will, even if you keep them at the same temperature. So, instead of baking for 30 minutes, start checking around 15 minutes (depending on how and constant your heat is). They’ll probably be done closer to 20 minutes, but grill times vary greatly.

If you are grilling these, we suggest grilling some sides too. That way, if everything is done on the grill, you won’t have to keep running between the grill and the oven to check on the sides.

Some grilled side dishes for cheeseburger sliders are:

Cheeseburger sliders and tater tots on a pan.

Cheeseburger Sliders With Hawaiian Rolls: Frequently Asked Questions

Can you add toppings to these sliders?

If you want to add additional toppings to these sliders, like lettuce, tomato, or onion, we suggest adding them after the sliders have already baked in the oven.

After they’ve baked, carefully remove the top and add your lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. in an even layer. Put the top back and then slice into 12 sliders. That way, the toppings will be evenly distributed.

Do you have to use Swiss cheese?

We like the mild flavor that the Swiss cheese adds to this recipe. It doesn’t complete with the other flavors. And the texture of Swiss cheese is perfect for this slider recipe. It melts really well while still holding up.

But, if you don’t like Swiss cheese, or if you have another cheese handy, go ahead and use that.

Do you have to use Japanese mayo?

We love everything about Japanese mayo. It’s sweet and tangy and adds a lot of flavor to this slider recipe. It’s also thicker than American mayo and will hold up better in the oven.

If you make this with American mayo, the mayo will get runny and won’t end up adding anything to the slider recipe. In that case, it might as well not even be there.

Japanese mayo will hold up in the oven and you’ll still be able to taste it after the recipe is done.

If you don’t have Japanese mayo and you only have American mayo, you can use it. It won’t ruin the recipe. But using Japanese mayo will really enhance it.

What’s the difference between these and Sheet Pan Sliders?

Sheet Pan Sliders are made in a completely different manner. Sheet pan sliders involve cooking the meat on a sheet pan first, then adding it to Hawaiian rolls and finishing cooking in the method used in this recipe.

Not to mention, this Cheeseburger slider recipe doesn’t use a sheet pan. It uses a cake pan to build and bake the burgers.

How do you store leftover Cheeseburger Sliders With Hawaiian Rolls?

If you have any leftover Cheeseburger Sliders, store them in an airtight container for up to three days.

To reheat them, simply put them on top of a pizza stone in the oven and reheat at 350 F for about 15 minutes. If you don’t have a pizza stone, you can heat them on a cookie sheet.

We don’t recommend reheating these in the microwave because the bun will get very hot very quickly and won’t be pleasant to eat.

Totchos in a bowl.

What to serve with sliders?

We serve these as a meal, so our sides need to be a little hearty in order to consider this a full meal. Some of our favorite sides for Cheeseburger Sliders are:

A sausage burger on a pretzel bun.
