Healthy Cake Pops Recipe | Gluten Free

This healthy cake pops recipe is simple, gluten free and oh so delicious. Best of all, this is a raw recipe so there is no baking required. Take a minute and prepare your taste buds because this white chocolate strawberry combination is FIRE!

The Best Cake Pops

I am a BIG fan of cake pops which are traditionally made by rolling the crumbs of a baked cake up into balls and then covering in chocolate or icing and placing on a stick. I don’t know why but they just always taste so good! Like most traditional recipes, cake pops are very heavy on the sugar and almost always contain gluten. I wanted to my make my own gluten free, lower sugar version and here it is!

This healthy cake pops recipe can be as healthy as you would like it to be. I used a sugar free white chocolate from Well Naturally to coat the cake pops. This makes them suitable for a low carb, low sugar diet however if you already have some regular chocolate lying around the house and you would prefer to use that for the coating, I say go for it!

These healthy cake pops would make a perfect Valentine’s dessert to gift to someone special. Or treat yourself and your girl friends to a delicious healthy treat any time of the year.

Simple Ingredients in this Healthy Cake Pops Recipe

Here is what you need to make this healthy cake pops recipe:

  • Vanilla whey protein – I haven’t tried subbing in a vegan protein but if you would like to then you will need to reduce the amount as it is MUCH more absorbent than whey protein.
  • Coconut flour – I do not recommend substituting this for any other flour as it is quite absorbent and using an alternative flour will change the texture of the cake pops.
  • Stevia – feel free to replace with monk fruit or your favourite
  • Powdered almond butter or vegan vanilla protein
  • Freeze dried strawberry pieces – I’ve linked the ones I use because they don’t have any added sugars. My local Woolworths does have small packets of freeze dried strawberries however they’re quite heavy on the added sugars.
  • High protein vanilla yoghurt – Yopro is my go-to when it comes to high protein yogurt, it’s delicious!
  • Celtic sea salt – or regular salt, I just love the added benefits of celtic salt.
  • White chocolate – regular or sugar free and if you’re not a white chocolate fan, feel free to use your preferred chocolate
  • Coconut oil – the hard stuff! Please don’t use the liquid coconut oil as it needs to set solid to hold the cake pops together.

How to make this Healthy Cake Pops Recipe

  • Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • Add yogurt and combine into a dough. You. Can also use a food processor for this step if you wish. If the dough is sticky, refrigerate for 1 hour or so.
  • Spoon out the dough into 8 even sized portions and roll into balls.
  • Melt white chocolate with coconut oil. Coat each ball in the white chocolate mixture and  sprinkle some freeze dried strawberry dust on top. Add to the fridge for 1-2 hours until the chocolate has set and enjoy!

Storing Healthy Cake Pops

Let’s pretend for a little minute that your healthy cake pops are going to last longer than two days (definitely does not happen in my house) and you’re wondering how to store them. They will keep quite well inside an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
