I love guacamole. It’s such a delicious party dip.

But, do you really want dips at your party? No. Not really.

You don’t want people hovering above the dip, sticking their chips into it, breaking and fishing out the chips, then chewing too close to the dip. It’s all sorts of gross, but we all do it.

That’s why the Guacamole Wonton Cups are great.

The guacamole is spooned directly into wonton cups, meaning your party guests can just grab one and move away from the table to eat it. The dip and chip are one entity and I don’t know why I never thought of this before.

Guacamole Wonton Cups Ingredients:

How To Make Guacamole Wonton Cups:

Pre-heat the oven to 350 F.

Wonton wrappers in the cavities of a muffin tin.

Put a wonton wrapper in each cavity of a muffin tin. You’ll need two tins for all 24 wonton wrappers.

Baked wonton wrappers in a muffin tin.

Bake the wonton wrappers for about nine minutes.

Remove the trays from the oven and let them cool completely. Remove each wonton wrapper from the pan.

Now it’s time to make your guacamole. If you have your own guacamole recipe, you can use that. If you want to use a store-bought guacamole, that works too.

But, for those people who want to make my tried and true guacamole recipe, here it is:

Avocado chunks in a glass bowl.

Cut the two avocados into small chunks. Put them in a bowl. Mash the avocado a little bit.

Chopped tomato and avocado in a glass bowl.

Cut the tomato into small chunks. Mix them into the mashed avocado.

Onion on top of avocado and tomato in a bowl.

Dice the onion small. Add it into the avocado and tomato mixture. Stir until the mixture is combined.

Guacamole in a bowl.

Add the lemon juice, salt, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese. Stir.

Cilantro on top of guacamole in a bowl.

Chop the cilantro and stir it into the mixture.

If you’re not ready for the guacamole right away, seal it with an airtight top and set the guacamole in the fridge until you’re ready for it. The airtight top will keep air off it and will keep it from browning.

When it’s party time, set the wonton cups on a tray. Spoon equal amounts of guacamole into each wonton wrapper. Serve immediately.

Guacamole Wonton Cups: Frequently Asked Questions

How can you store Guacamole Wonton Cups?

If you have any leftover Guacamole Wonton Cups, go ahead and eat them immediately. They don’t save well.

When wonton wrappers are baked, they get really crisp, like a thin tortilla chip. That’s delicious.

But, once you start adding guacamole, the parts of the wonton wrapper that are touching the guacamole start softening.

When these are left out for a while, the bottoms of the wonton cups get really soggy and they don’t taste great.

We have reheated these in the air fryer and they come back to life, but they’re not as good as they are when they’re fresh.

Can you make Guacamole Wonton Cups ahead of time?

So you can sort of make these Guacamole Wonton Cups ahead of time, but not really. You can make the pieces of them ahead of time, but you can’t actually assemble them ahead of time.

You can make the wonton cups ahead of time and store them on a countertop until you’re ready for them.

And you can make the guacamole ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the fridge until you’re ready for it.

Then, at the very last second, assemble them.

Guacamole Wonton Cups Variations:

If you want, you can jazz these up a little bit by making one of these variations

Guacamole Shrimp Wonton Cups

Cook some peeled shrimp however you like best. Any flavoring and any cooking method will work with this. Just made sure that you’re using peeled shrimp (or you peel the shrimp) because you don’t want any shells or tails.

Once you add the guacamole to the wonton cup, top it with a shrimp. Stick the edge of the shrimp into the guacamole, rather than laying it flat, to make these look more interesting on your table.

Spicy Guacamole Wonton Cups

If you want a little kick to your appetizer, very finely cut some jalapeno peppers and add the pieces to the guacamole.

Our best suggestion is that you add the chopped jalapeno after you have already added the guacamole to the wonton cups. That way, you can make some spicy and leave some mild since not everyone likes a spicy appetizer.

Guacamole And Bacon Wonton Cups

Bacon makes everything better, and it can sure make these wonton cups great (for meateaters, anyway).

Make some bacon and set it aside to cool. When it’s cool to the touch, break it into large pieces (about four per piece of bacon). After you’ve assembled the cups, stick a piece or two of the bacon into the guacamole so it’s sticking out of the top.

To make this version a little easier, you can crumble the bacon and sprinkle it over the top of the guacamole instead. If you’re doing it this way, add the tiniest bit of salt to the top of the bacon.

We don’t suggest crumbling the bacon directly into the guacamole because it may get soggy and not add anything to the recipe.

More Wonton Wrapper Recipes:

A pack of wonton wrappers comes with more than 24 wrappers. So, if you follow this recipe as written and only make 24 guacamole wonton cups, you’ll end up with leftover wonton wrappers. And then you’ll need something to do with them.

Luckily for you, we have some other recipes using wonton wrappers:
