If you want to have a delicious vegitarian curry for chapati, you can go for this one. This quick and easy mushroom curry is our family favourite. This delicious curry is made from mushrooms, onion, tomatoes, spices and fresh cream.
Fresh cream gives it a creamy texture. You can even replace fresh cream with coconut cream/ milk. This curry will taste like the one you get in the restaurant and it goes well with plain basmati rice, jeera rice, roti, paratha.

How to make Mushroom Masala restaurant style
What you’ll need
Mushroom – 300 gm
Onion (finely chopped) – 2
Tomato (finely chopped) – 2
Ginger&Garlic Paste – 1 1/2 tsp
Green Chilli – 1
Cinnamon – 1
Bay Leaf – 2
Cardamom – 2
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Cumin Powder – a pinch
Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves
Kasuri Methi
Fresh Cream – 2 tbsp
Salt – 3/4 tsp
Oil – 3 tbsp
Tips
- If you dont want the curry to be hot, you could remove the seeds from the chilli before adding.
How to cook it
- Add 3 tbsp of oil into a pan. Once the oil is hot, add 2 bay leaf, 1 cinnamon stick and 2 cardamom.
- Add finely chopped onion and mix.
- Add 1 1/2 tsp of ginger&garlic paste and mix.
- Add 1/2 tsp of salt and mix. Close and cook for 3 minutes on a medium heat.
- After 3 minutes, mix it well. Once onion is sauteed, add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 1 1/4 tsp of coriander powder and mix. Stove must be on a low-medium heat.
- Add 2 tsp of kashmiri chilli powder and mix.
- Add chopped tomatoes and mix. Close and cook for 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, open and mix. Once the tomatoes are soft and mushy, change the heat to medium.
- Once the oil separates, add mushrooms and mix.
- Add 1 slitted green chilli and mix it well.
- Close and cook for 5 minutes on a medium flame. After 5 minutes, open and mix. Stove must be on a high heat.
- Add a pinch of cumin powder, 1/4 tsp of garam masala and mix.
- Check the salt and add 1/4 tsp of salt if needed.
- Add 2 tbsp of fresh cream and mix.
- Add kasuri methi and mix.
- Add coriander leaves. Close and take it off from the stove.
- Mushroom masala is ready to serve.
