You might be wondering what are patatas bravas? The answer is easy, patatas bravas are the best fried Spanish potatoes you ever tasted in your life.
You can eat it with a spicy brava sauce or garlic aioli. These are also known as patatas a la brava or papas bravas.
With this recipe, you do not need a lot of ingredients or fancy toppings. You will be surprised at how easy this recipe is to make.

So what do you need to make this recipe? A very short list of ingredients:
- Potatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Bravas sauce
How To Make The Best Patatas Bravas
To make crunchy Spanish potatoes you start with the potatoes. Use a starchy potato like a Russet or Yukon Gold.
Peel and wash the potato in cold water to remove the starch. You can leave the potatoes in a bowl with water or rub to remove the starch.
Cut the potatoes into cubes and use a clean kitchen towel to dry the potato cubes.
Take a pan with water and bring to a boil. Cook the potatoes for 2 minutes then drain and let the potatoes cool on a cutting board
Put the cubes on a cutting board and brush them with olive oil. Turn and rub the other side.
You can also pour the olive oil into a Ziploc bag or food container add the olive oil and shake to coat the potatoes.
All the potatoes should be covered with oil.
Preheat the Air Fryer to 400℉ then put a parchment liner in an Air Fryer basket and put the patatas bravas.
Air Fry the patatas brava for 22 minutes. Take the basket out of the Air Fryer and toss and shake the patatas every 5 minutes.
After the cooking time is done take the patatas brava out of the Air Fryer.
Put your patatas brava on a plate, sprinkle with salt and serve with brava sauce or aioli, and serve immediately.

- Refrigerator – you can store these potatoes in the fridge. First, let it cool completely then put them in the Ziploc bag or food container. You can store it for up to 3 days in the fridge
- Freezer – want to keep it longer you can store it in the freezer. Again, let it cool completely and put the patatas bravas in a freezer-friendly plastic bag or an airtight container
How To Reheat Patatas Bravas
You can easily reheat patatas brava in several ways:
- Air Fryer – the most obvious way is to reheat in the Air Fryer. If the patatas are frozen preheat the Air Fryer at 325℉ for 3 minutes and heat for 7 minutes or until warm. Shake the basket halfway through
- Oven – preheat the oven to 325℉ and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Put the patatas on the baking tray and heat for 10 minutes or until warm
- Cast-iron skillet – preheat a cast-iron skillet to medium hot with olive oil. Add the patatas bravas to the skillet and move the patatas through the pan to let them warm
- Oil – Take a small pan and heat olive oil to 300℉ and fry your patatas bravas until golden. It takes 5 minutes

You can make the ultimate classic tapas in the Air Fryer. Super easy to make Air Fryer patatas bravas are a great snack or side dish. Serve with aioli or brava sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 big potatoes
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Peel the potatoes and wash them with cold water. Pat the potatoes dry
- Cut the potatoes in half and then into 4 equal strips then cut the strips into 4 to 8 cubes
- Take a pan with water and bring it to a boil. Cook the potatoes for 2 minutes then drain and let the potatoes cool on a cutting board
- Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons olive oil on the cubs and brush to coat the potatoes. You can also pour the olive oil into a Ziploc bag or food container add the olive oil and shake to coat the potatoes
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 400℉/200℃ for 3 minutes. Put the patatas bravas in the Air Fryer basket lined with a parchment paper liner
- Air Fry for 22 minutes and shake every 5 minutes to prevent the patatas from sticking together and to brown evenly
- Serve immediately
