Especially if you have leftover rice or made a big batch of Instant Pot long grain rice like basmati rice.
You can make this rice taste even better when you turn it into fried rice.
What Rice Is Best For Air Fryer Fried Rice
To make fried rice you have can choose between various types of rice. The best rice you can use is:
- Basmati rice
- Jasmine rice
- Long grain rice
- Surinam rice
For fried rice, you do not want sticky rice but rice that separates easily. It should absorb the soy you add but again not get sticky when it gets moist.
Air Fryer Fried Rice Ingredients
To make this rice recipe you only need a couple of ingredients. Put them on your grocery shopping list and have them ready when you start:
- Cooked long-grain rice
- Frozen vegetables like peas, green beans, carrots
- Onion
- Scallion
- Red bell pepper
- Eggs
- Soy sauce
- Olive oil
How To Make Air Fryer Fried Rice
Preheat the Air Fryer to 360℉ for 5 minutes. Start with leftover long grain rice or make 3 cups of cooked long-grain rice in your pressure cooker.
Let the rice cool or if you have cold leftover rice but it into a large bowl.
Finely chop the onion, dice the red bell pepper, and thinly slice the scallion.
Add the vegetables to the rice in the bowl. Preheat a cast-iron skillet to medium-hot and add olive oil or cooking product.
Whisk the eggs in a bowl and add to the cast-iron skillet. Stir the eggs and turn them into scrambled eggs.
Add the scrambled eggs to the bowl as well. Stir all the ingredients through the rice to evenly distribute all the veggies and ingredients
Drizzle the soy sauce on the rice in a swirling motion and repeat for the oil.
Now stir the rice to coat with the soy sauce and oil. Transfer to the rice mixture into an Air Fryer cake pan.
Put the cake pan into the Air Fryer. Cook the fried rice for 15 minutes. Stir the rice every 5 minutes then serve immediately.
Can You Make Air Fryer Fried Rice Ahead?
Yes, you can make this fried rice ahead of time. You can either prepare all the ingredients and put them together.
Heat the rice for a couple of minutes and let it cool. Then you can finish the fried rice when you want to serve it.
How To Store Air Fryer Fried Rice
To store fried rice, you have various options. In all cases, you need to let the rice cool completely before storing it.
- Refrigerator – you can store rice in the fridge either in a Ziploc bag or in a leak-free food container. You can store it in the fridge for about a day
- Freezer – if you want to store longer store the rice in a food container or a Ziploc bag. Label it before you store it in the freezer for up to 1 month. Longer is possible but can have an impact on the moisture and taste of the rice
How To Reheat Air Fryer Fried Rice
It is very easy to reheat fried rice. Just as long as you heat the fried rice thoroughly because of bacteria that can survive in cooked rice.
You have several ways to reheat your rice:
- Wok or skillet – preheat the wok or skillet to hot. You can add a little bit of oil. Then add the fried rice and stir continuously until all the fried rice is piping hot. Then immediately
- Air Fryer – you can also reheat fried rice in the Air Fryer. Preheat the Air Fryer to 360℉ for 5 minutes. Put the rice in an Air Fryer cake pan. Heat for at least 10 minutes and stir after 5 minutes
- Microwave – You can also reheat the rice in the microwave. I never reheat rice in the microwave because I like my rice a little toasted like in the skillet. If you do, add 2 tablespoons of water to an airtight container with the rice. Put the container in the microwave and heat for 3 to 4 minutes or until it is really hot through
In all cases check if the internal temperature is at least 165℉ or hotter and serve immediately.

- 3 cups Instant Pot Long Grain rice cooked and cold
- 2 eggs scrambled
- 1 cup frozen vegetables like peas, green beans, carrots,
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- ½ onion
- 1 scallion
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 360℉/182℃ for 5 minutes
- Put cooked cold long-grain rice into a large bowl. Finely chop the onion, and bell pepper, and slice the scallion
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet to medium-hot and add olive oil or cooking product
- Whisk the eggs in a bowl and scramble the eggs. Add the scrambled eggs to the bowl. Stir all the ingredients thru the rice to evenly distribute the veggies
- Pour the soy sauce on the rice in a swirling motion and repeat for the oil. Now stir the rice to coat it with the soy sauce and oil
- Transfer the rice mixture to an Air Fryer cake pan
- Put the pan into the air fryer. Cook the air fryer fried for 15 minutes
- Stir the rice every 5 minutes
- Serve immediately
