Fluffy Air Fryer Omelette Recipe
You can make so much more recipes in your Air Fryer than you can imagine, like this omelette recipe. The Air Fryer is perfect for preparing many recipes you normally make on the stovetop.
Air Frying an omelette gives you a fluffy omelette.
Why Make An Air Fryer Omelette?
Air Fryer omelettes have so many advantages compared to a stovetop omelette:
- Set and forget – my favorite reason is that just like a lot of Instant Pot recipes this omelette is a set and forget recipe. While whisking the eggs you preheat the Air Fryer. Then put the omelette in, set the timer, and walk away. When you return your omelette is done. No babysitting, no flipping off the egg is needed
- Fast recipe – an Air Fryer omelette is a super-fast recipe to make. In just a couple of minutes, you have these omelettes on the table
- Limited dishes – because you use a cake pan which you use to whisk your egg and bake. No additional cup or pan to wash up
Air Fryer Omelette Ingredients
To make this omelet recipe you need various ingredients. Put the following ingredients on your grocery shopping list and have them ready when you start:
- Eggs
- Cherry tomatoes
- Small onion
- Mushrooms
- Slices of turkey
- Scallion
- Pinch salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
- Cheese (optional)
- Cooking spray
How To Make Air Fryer Omelette
To make this recipe start by preheating the Air Fryer at 350℉/175℃ for 5 minutes.
Then dice the onion, cherry tomatoes, scallion, mushroom, and turkey. Take a small bowl or use an Air Fryer cake pan to crack the eggs.
When you use a cake pan to whisk first spray with cooking spray before continuing.
Whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt and fresh ground pepper. Then add the vegetables and turkey to the egg and mix to combine.
Pour the egg mixture into the cake pan and put it into the air fryer basket and cook for 8-10 minutes.
After 4 minutes sprinkle the egg with shredded cheese. Take a spatula and slide the omelet out of the pan onto a plate. Serve immediately.
Can You Freeze Omelettes?
If you are wondering whether you can make an omelette and freeze it the answer is yes. You can freeze omelets. So, if you have a leftover omelette or made a big batch store them in the freezer.
Be aware that when you thaw an omelet you will get excess moisture and the texture of the egg can be a little more rubbery compared to a freshly baked omelet. As it takes only a couple of minutes to prepare I would always opt for a fresh cooked omelet.
Only if I have leftovers do I store them in the freezer.
How To Freeze Omelettes?
Let them cool completely first after you cook your omelets. Then you will need to wrap your omelettes in layers. Start with at least three layers of plastic wrap to prevent any frost damage from occurring with your omelet or to prevent them from going watery later.
Put the plastic-wrapped omelets in an airtight food container or a Ziploc bag. Label and store in the freezer for up to three months.
When you thaw and reheat a frozen omelet the texture will change due to the liquid in the omelet. So be prepared it will not be as fluffy as a freshly made one.
How To Reheat Your Omelette
It is easy to reheat an omelette and you have various ways to reheat it:
- Air Fryer – preheat your Air Fryer to 350℉ for 3 minutes. Use the grill pan or an Air Fryer basket with a parchment liner and heat for 10 minutes or until they are heated through. If you want to reheat more than 1 omelet, fold them and heat two at a time
- Oven – like the Air Fryer, preheat your oven to 350℉. Put your omelets on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Heat for 5-7 minutes or until warmth through
- Stovetop – you can heat an omelet in a cast-iron skillet. Preheat the skillet to medium with a little bit of butter and add your omelet. Heat the omelette for about 2 minutes on each side
- Microwave – you can also heat an omelet in the microwave. Put the omelets on paper towels and put them in the microwave. Heat in 30 seconds burst and check to see if the omelette is warm enough else heat for another 30 seconds
Can You Make An Omelette The Night Before?
Yes, you can make an omelette ahead and eat it the next day. Prepare your omelette as described. Let it cool completely and put it on a plate or leave it in the cake pan.
Cover with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator until the next day.
Can You Prepare An Omelet In The Oven?
Yes, it is just as easy to prepare an omelet in the oven as it is to make one in the Air Fryer. Usually, it takes an oven longer to preheat but the cooking time is similar to the Air Fryer.
You have to increase the temperature of your oven slightly but it works really to make an oven omelet.

Just letting you know that this did not work in my air fryer and I have a Nutrichef convection air fryer oven.
I cooked it longer than the time given but I didn’t use a metal pan though, I used a flexible rubber type pan that goes inside your air fryer. The problem was it looked done on top and when I took it out and flipped it over the underside was all undercooked.
Hi Cat,
Sorry to hear the omelet did not turn out like mine. I have a Philips Air Fryer which could have different temperatures compared to the Nutrichef. I always cook my omelet in a metal cake pan which may conduct heat better than a silicone type pan. Note that I never even flip my omelet. You could leave it long, adjust the temperature or try using a cake pan.
How much for air fryer basket
Hi Elizabeth,
I’m sorry but I do not understand your question. I use a regular Air Fryer basket that comes with the Air Fryer and put a cake pan inside.
Very good. I added just a few shredded potatoes and cooked one minute longer . Very tasty.
Cindy,
Glad you like it! What a great idea to add some potatoes as this recipe is great to use up your (leftover) vegetables.
What is the diameter of your cake pan? This sounds good!
Elaine,
The diameter of my cake pan (inside) is 6.5 inches.
Do you put setting on air crisp for omlette
Hi Julie,
No, I do not my Air Fryer doesn’t have a crisp setting 😀 so it is not possible for me to choose.
The instructions say to pre-heat to 375°F, so I should assume the cooking temperature is the same?
Just wanted to verify. A number of air fryer recipes I’ve encountered use the preset preheat temperature (400°F), then cook at different temperatures. Thanks!
Jonathan,
The preheat temperature and cooking temperature are the same. I have a very basic Air Fryer that doesn’t have a preset or anything. So if a recipe requires a different cooking temperature compared to preheating I mention it in the recipe.
