Cooking Pulled Pork In A Pressure Cooker
But what can you do when you want pulled pork but do not have a lot of time on your hands? Use your pressure cooker.
Your pressure cooker like this Instant Pot 6 QT Duo Plus does a great job cooking pulled pork in less than an hour.
The best part is you can turn on your pot and prepare the rest of your meal while the pork cooks.
So not checking and turning the meat or staying close by when you have pork on the BBQ.
What Cut Of Meat To Use For Pulled Pork?
Pork shoulder is the best cut of meat to use for pulled pork.
This part of the pig has the best amount of fat content to turn into super tender, juicy, and melty meat.
You can use pork loin for this recipe but it is a much leaner cut of meat so it can turn out less tender and juicy.
The most important thing to do to your pork is to simmer, so the protein in the pork allows it to break down properly.
Or you use the pressure cooker to help you in this process.

So, when you get the chance make it ahead and reheat when you want to serve it.
How To Store Instant Pot Pulled Pork
As pulled pork is great to make ahead you have several options to store. In all cases let the pork cool completely before storing it.
- Refrigerator – when you plan on serving the pork within a day or two you can store it in the fridge. Cool first then either put it in an airtight food container or Ziploc resealable bag
- Freezer – want to keep it longer you can store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Again, cool first and put the pork in a Ziploc freezer bag or a food container like these Rubbermaid leak-proof food containers
Reheat Pulled Pork
You can reheat frozen pulled pork in several ways.
- Instant Pot – If you want to reheat a large amount of pulled pork and its juices you can reheat it in the Instant Pot. You can also select Manual/Pressure cook for 0 minutes. You need enough juices else you can add 1/4 cup of water
- Slow cooker – You can reheat pulled pork in a slow cooker or Crock-Pot Express set it to the Keep Warm function on your pressure cooker or use the warm option on your Crock-Pot, slowing warming the meat by stirring it occasionally
- Oven – You can heat pulled pork in the oven. Preheat the oven to 350℉ and put the pulled pork and juices in a baking dish with a lid or a Dutch oven. Warm until the pulled pork reaches an internal temperature of 165℉ (when using a meat thermometer). Mix the pulled pork regularly and serve
