Cooking Meatballs In An Air Fryer
Whether you are using a small air fryer like this Philips Air Fryer Viva or a big one like this Philips Aire Fryer XXL.
You do not need any additional oil or butter because there is enough fat in ground beef to baking your meatballs.
What I love about the air fryer is how fast you can heat it up without warming up your whole house like with an oven.
You can bake meatballs in a cast-iron Dutch oven as well but with an air fryer, you can set and forget.
Turn on the timer and 10 minutes later you have the most amazing Dutch meatballs which are bigger than regular meatballs.
These big meatballs taste great with potatoes and gravy or you can make them smaller and use them as spaghetti meatballs.
Air Fryer Meatball Ingredients
To make air fryer meatballs you need the following ingredients on your grocery shopping list.
Have the following ready when you start:
- Ground beef
- White bread crustless or breadcrumbs
- Small egg
- Milk
- Mustard
- Ketchup
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
How To Make Air Fryer Meatballs
To make this recipe you start with mincing the garlic and finely chop the onion.
Cut the crust from the bread and pull it into small pieces or put the breadcrumbs in a bowl.
Add the milk to the bread. Whisk the egg and add to the bread as well. Let the bread soak for a couple of minutes.
Sprinkle with salt and fresh ground pepper. Then add the mustard and ketchup on top. Stir the bread with a fork.
Then add the ground beef to the ball. Wash your hands before you mix all the ingredients together into a smooth ball of minced meat.
Now divide the meat into six big or 12 small equal parts and roll into meatballs.
Preheat your air fryer to 400℉ for 5 minutes.
Take a pizza tray, a parchment liner, or cake bucket and place the meatballs inside close together but not touching.
If the air fryer pan is full, cook in two or more batches. Cook for 8 minutes for small meatballs and 10 minutes.
The internal temperature should be 165℉. I recommend not bake on the regular wired tray as the meatballs can stick to the wire.
Also, all of the excess fat of the meatballs will fall through the wire. Take the meatballs out of the pan and serve.
Make Gravy For Air Fryer Meatballs
If you want some jus or gravy, take the meatballs out of the Air Fryer and put them in a cast-iron Dutch oven.
Add 1 to 2 cups of water and 1-2 tablespoon sweet soy sauce and 1/2 tablespoon sriracha sauce (omit if you do not like spicy or hot).
Turn up the heat to bring the sauce to a boil and let it simmer for 5 minutes and you have a great gravy to accompany your meatballs.

You have various ways to store these meatballs:
- Refrigerator – you can store these meatballs in the fridge. Let them cool completely before you store them in these amazing food containers. You can store it for up to 3 days.
- Freezer – want to store them longer you can best store them in the freezer. Let the meatballs cool completely before storing them in a Ziploc seal top bag or in a food container.
