How To Make Instant Pot Taco Meat

  1. To make this recipe press the Sauté button and let the pot get warm. Usually, you can start within two minutes. Then add the ground beef to the pot and move it around until most of the meat is brown.
  2. Do not drain the beef but leave it in the pot. While the beef is browning you can dice the onion, and bell pepper, and mince the garlic. Add all of it to the pressure cooker and stir to combine.
  3. Let the vegetables go soft and translucent which takes about 5-6 minutes Now add a tablespoon of taco seasoning to the Instant Pot before you add the tomato puree. Stir to combine.
  4. When all the ingredients are combined stop the Sauté function.
  5. Close the lid and secure it. Close the pressure valve, select Manual or Pressure Cooker, and cook on high for 10 minutes.
  6. If you have time let it naturally release pressure for 10 minutes else if you are in a hurry, you can quick-release. Open the lid, and if the meat releases a lot of liquid, then select the Sauté button to boil off the excess liquid.

Instant Pot Taco Meat Recipe

I love my pressure cooker it is one of the best inventions ever and makes life so much easier. If you still have your Instant Pot in the box now is a great time to take it out.

You see when you cook in a pressure cooker some ingredients intensify. Adding Mexican seasoning or taco seasoning from a packet is a great example.

As a result, you need less seasoning to have your taco meat taste amazing. I recommend making taco seasoning yourself because you can customize it to your taste and liking.

You might be surprised to see that this recipe doesn’t require any additional liquid. I do not use any oil or other cooking products to make this recipe.

No water is needed. There is a lot of liquid in the meat and the tomato puree. No, if you use ground beef or a combination of ground pork and beef you will get more liquid than you ever imagined.

If you are using lean ground beef and no excess fat is coming from the beef you can add ¼ cup water.

I do like to use the ceramic bowl in my Instant Pot which is non-stick. So, if you have one use it for this recipe. If you haven’t got one consider getting one because non-stick cooking makes life so much easier.

It doesn’t contain any Teflon.
