One Pan Kielbasa With Apples:

This is going to become your favorite new fall dinner!  I love keeping Kielbasa around because it’s already fully cooked, so it’s quick and easy to prepare.  It pairs perfectly with thinly sliced apples and red onions for a savory and slightly sweet dish!  The maple glaze/sauce that we add is really simple, but it’s what makes this dinner really scream Autumn to me!  It is a combo of a bit of chicken broth, maple syrup, minced garlic, and dijon for a bit of tang!  You add it right to the skillet and simmer everything just for 4-5 minutes and the apples become soft and really soak up that delicious maple flavor!  If you’re worried this might be too sweet, don’t!  I am much more of a savory person and this dinner really has the perfect balance because the sausage tends to be a tad salty on its own.  If you’re a smoked sausage/kielbasa lover like we are, you have to try out our One Pot Smoked Sausage Pasta and our easy Sheet Pan Sausage and Potatoes!

A Few Recipe Notes and Tips:

  • I used Kielbasa because that’s what I had on hand, but other sausages will work!  You can use any type of beef, chicken, or turkey smoked sausage.  You could also use Andouille sausage which packs a bit of heat!
  • For the apples I used honey crisp because they’re my personal favorite this time of year!  You can use really any apples here that you want.  Just make sure to slice them thin and peel off the skin!
  • The dijon mustard doesn’t make this dish taste “mustardy” but it adds a bit of tang that the recipe needs.  You could use spicy brown, or yellow mustard as well.  If you don’t have mustard, try a little apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar instead.
  • We really love the mild flavor of the red onions in this recipe.  Slice them into decent sized chunks, and then any onion haters can just pick them out.  This recipe will work just fine with a sweeter yellow onion or even white onion in a pinch.
  • For the sauce, I use chicken broth but vegetable broth or even just water would work if needed.  I did use pure maple syrup, but any kind of maple syrup you have should hold up fine here!
  • I served this with a side of rice and our favorite Roasted Green Beans!

This is delicious! I had to use a yellow onion since I didn’t have red onion, and it was still wonderful (just less pretty). I served it over buttered egg noodles. Got suggestions for adding sweet potato to it so may try that next time. Two thumbs up for flavor and a quick meal!!

Delicious & I had to substitute thee onion, just used what I had, yellow & Dijon mustard made my own and used vegetable broth, so I ablibbed on pretty much everything, but the sauce is finominal! Thank this will be my norm when I do it again! Thank you

This recipe is crazy delicious! I was wanting to find something different and delicious for meal rotation, and this fit the bill. Will definitely make it again and again!

    1. I tried your recipe. Although, my attempt did not turn out as pretty as yours, it still tasted delicious.
In my opinion, it needed just a touch more sweetness from the apples. Next time I am going to add a small amount of apple juice. i had the meal with buttered bread and a glass of red wine. The wine was a good compliment to the meal.

  4. I made this with minor adjustments per our taste (no thyme, less onion), and we all really liked it! Even my kids ate every bite with buttered rice.
