This shrimp salad is a great low-carb recipe and fits perfectly in the keto diet. It is creamy and has a fresh taste. Perfect for a sandwich or toast.
So, are you ready to learn how you can make shrimp salad? Let’s get started!
We have been making salads in our house for as long as I remember. It was a typical birthday thing. The family would come to visit and celebrate and we had a number of salads to eat.
My mom would either serve them as a small canapé or turn them into a sandwich to eat with a bowl of soup. That is where I learned the art of salad making.
Low-carb Shrimp Salad
Only recently did I learn that this recipe perfectly fits the low-carb diet.
I just love the creamy texture and the combination of mayonnaise and mustard.
Every good salad should have some mayo and mustard into it. This recipe is done in no time, which is a huge benefit.
In just a couple of minutes you have this salad ready and on the table. So, no need for a long prep when you want to serve it at a party.
So, if you do not know what to serve for lunch this weekend? Make this recipe, your family will love it.
Shrimp Salad Ingredients
You do not need a big list of ingredients when you want to make this recipe. Put the following on your grocery shopping and have them ready when you start:
- Small pink shrimp
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
- Red onion
- Dille
- Lemon
- Scallion
How To Make Shrimp Salad
For this recipe start with finely chopping the red onion and thinly slice the scallion.
Next, wash the small pink shrimp in cold water and drain. I usually pat them dry with some kitchen paper.
Take a big bowl and put the shrimp in the bowl. Then add the lemon juice to the shrimp.
Now add the mayonnaise and mustard in the bowl as well. Take a spoon and combine all the ingredients.
Stir the ingredients thoroughly before adding the dill and scallions.
Be sure to stir your shrimp salad again. Cover the bowl and let it chill in the fridge for at least 15 minutes before serving.
How To Store Your Salad
The best way is to make this salad fresh and serve immediately. You can also store this salad in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
As this salad contains mayonnaise it is not a good idea to store it in the freezer.
Freezing has an effect on the texture of the salad when you thaw it so make and serve is the best way.
Serve Your Shrimp Salad With
You can serve your shrimp salad with:
- Baguette – you can slice the French baguette and add some salad
- Kaiser rolls – you can put the salad with some lettuce on a freshly baked kaiser roll
- Toast – take a slice of bread and put it under the broiler for 5 minutes or in the toaster
- Crackers – you can serve this salad on a party with some (homemade) crunchy crackers
- Flour tortilla – spread this shrimp salad on a tortilla flatbread. Roll it up and eat as a sandwich or turn it into pinwheels
