Tropical Fruit Salad
Let me show you how to make this amazing easy tropical fruit salad! Like so many of my favorite recipes, the instructions couldn’t be any easier. Simply mix together the dressing ingredients in a small bowl, wash, dry, and cut the fruit and place in a large bowl, add in the dressing and mix to combine.
To keep fruit salad fresh, toss fruit that tends to brown in something acidic before storing it. That’s one of the reasons why I opted for a honey and lime dressing – not only is it delicious, but it also helps slow down the browning process.
For the absolute best flavor experience, be sure to pair this recipe with Klarbrunn’s Cherry Lime Sparkling Water. It’s best served ice cold and pairs SO WELL with the yummy honey lime dressing. You can find out where to buy Klarbrunn here.
Fruit Salad Dressing
There are so many incredible options for amazing fruit salad dressing.
I opted for a honey lime dressing with this recipe and I think it’s a wonderful addition to the flavors here.
Because fruit is already so flavorful, you could opt to omit the dressing entirely if you like.
Some other popular fruit salad dressings are:
- Poppy Seed Dressing
- Cool Whip
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Yogurt Dressing
- Coconut Milk Dressing
To make vegan fruit salad dressing, replace the honey with maple syrup.
Even though it’s not a dressing, I think fresh mint also makes a wonderful addition to fresh fruit salad!
Canned vs. Fresh Fruit
I definitely recommend using fresh fruit for this recipe. It tastes much better and has such a better texture.
The only fruit that I think would work just as well canned is the pineapple. If you do happen to use canned pineapple, be sure to add a bit of the pineapple juice to the dressing! It adds such great flavor and I love the addition.
What are Tropical Fruits
Tropical fruits are generally considered fruits that grow in hot and humid climates. Some example would be fruits that thrive in the tropical areas of the planet, like Asia, Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The fruits we’re using in this salad are:
- Pineapple
- Mango
- Kiwi
- Oranges
- Grapes
- Blueberries
Some of my favorite tropical fruits that would work well in this salad are:
- Dragon Fruit (the yellow fleshed has a better and sweeter flavor)
- Banana (but it has a strong flavor that will seep into the rest of the fruit – so only add it just before serving)
- Coconut
- Watermelon
- Papaya
- Guava
What You’ll Need
The only tool you need for this recipe is an extra-large mixing bowl. It’s a great versatile tool that I definitely recommend keeping in your kitchen. I love mine and use it for everything from mixing salads to whipping up some baked desserts.
