Quick And Easy Bagels Recipe
To make these easy bagels you only need a limited amount of ingredients. Not having to proof the dough saves you at least half an hour.
Prepare the dough, shape into bagels, and pop them in the oven. Some bagel recipe calls for cooking the dough in boiling water to get a hard and chewy crust.
Not in this recipe even though you still get a crusty crust and a soft inside.
With this fast dough, you do not need to knead the dough endlessly. Put the dough together and you are ready to go.
Easy Bagel Ingredients
To make this bagel recipe you need a limited number of ingredients. You need the following on your grocery shopping or from your kitchen pantry:
- Self-rising flour
- Non-fat Greek yogurt, not regular yogurt, it will be too sticky
- Egg
- Everything but the bagel seasoning
How To Make This Easy Bagel Recipe
To make bagels you first start with the dough. Take a large bowl and add the self-rising flour in the bowl.
If you want to make your own self-raising flour and combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Then add the Greek yogurt and mix it with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined. The dough will look a little crumbly.
Take a cutting board and dust it with flour. Put the dough on the board and knead it for about 15 turns.
The dough should not be sticky and no dough should be on your hands. Now preheat oven to 375℉ and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Then divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll a ball of dough in a thick long string of about 1 inch and shape like a doughnut.
Join the ends so you get a bagel.
Whisk the egg white or the whole egg in a small bowl. Then brush the egg on the bagel and sprinkle your favorite seasoning on top.
Then bake the bagels in the middle of the oven for 25 minutes. To get an even bake you can turn the baking tray halfway through baking.
Let them cool slightly before serving.
Various Bagel Toppings
Of course, you can eat your bagel plain but they taste even better when you add your favorite toppings on.
You can sprinkle the following on top of your bagels:
- White sesame seeds
- Black sesame seeds
- Poppy seeds
- Everything but the bagel seasoning
- Grated cheese
- Flakes of salt
How To Store Bagels
Once you have baked them there are a number of ways to store them:

I was very skeptical in making these but I was looking for a new breakfast that was sugar free. Let me tell you they were fantastic. They were so simple to make and they turned out beautifully. I used all purpose einkorn and mixed baking powder and salt to make it self rising. These will now be a weekly staple in my house. Even my kids loved them. THANK YOU!!!
