3.2K

Caribbean cuisine uses a lot of seasoning. The use of seasonings in the cooking is what makes Caribbean food taste so rich. The food can never be described as bland because of the amazing flavors that were used. With seasonings being a huge part of our cooking, we tend to buy loads of herbs that go bad fast. In order to preserve them, we blend them up and we end up with this Homemade Caribbean Green Seasoning.

This homemade Caribbean green seasoning is the perfect starter for any stewed meat or even soup. To give some flavor to your stew fish, you can add this to your stew and it will just elevate the taste.

Making this recipe is simple, once you have all of the ingredients, you just need to chop them and add them to your food processor. Now, your grandparents will be upset if you use a food processor since they used a mortar and pestle.

Homemade Caribbean Green Seasoning

This homemade Caribbean green seasoning is perfect to season any meats. It is the best way to preserve fresh herbs for a long time.
Servings 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 10-12 sprigs Fresh cilantro or culantro
  • 6-8 sprigs Fresh parsley
  • 4-6 sprigs Fresh scallions
  • 4 medium Garlic cloves
  • 4 medium Pimento peppers diced
  • 2 stalks Celery chopped
  • 1 medium Onion or shallot diced
  • 1 medium Bell pepper preferrably green
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil or Olive oil

Instructions

  • Chop the veggies and remove the skins and seeds.
  • Place everything into a food processor and mix until smooth like a paste.
  • Place in a jar and refrigerate or use immediately

Notes

If you don’t own a food processor you can use a blender but it will be more “runny/liquid” so I suggest using 2 tbsp of oil or none in that case.
