These two-ingredient dough garlic knots are done in no time really. No yeast means fast dough and still super delicious. So, want to learn how to make easy garlic knots? Let’s get started!
What You Need For This Recipe
If you are wondering what garlic knots are made of, take a look at this list of ingredients. Put what you need on your grocery shopping list and have it available when you start.
- Flour – Use self-rising flour for this recipe
- Yogurt – plain, fat-free Greek yogurt
- Butter – use regular or plant-based butter
- Garlic – mince fresh garlic or use garlic powder
Note that the full ingredients list, including measurements, can be found in the recipe card below.
How To Make Garlic Knots
- For this recipe, you first start with the dough. You can either make it by hand as shown in the recipe video but you can also make it in a food processor.
- Put the self-rising flour (1 cup plus 2 tablespoons) and plain, fat-free, Greek yogurt in a bowl or food processor. When you use a food processor mix at low speed until combined into two ingredient dough.
- Knead on medium speed for about 2 minutes to get an elastic dough. Turn the dough onto a floured board. Sprinkle with flour, knead a couple of times, and shape into a ball.
- Form a ball and cut it into eight pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a long string and tie the string into a knot. Press the ends of the two strings into the ball and place the knots on a parchment-covered baking sheet.
- Repeat for the remaining 7 knots. Preheat the oven to 400˚F/200℃ before baking the garlic knots for 10-14 minutes, until golden brown.
- While the knots are in the oven melt the butter in a pan or microwave (use 25-second bursts). Mix the melted butter and the minced garlic.
- Brush the knots with the garlic butter mixture and serve immediately.
Garlic Knots Recipe
These homemade garlic knots are really the best. They are soft and fluffy and you only need 4 ingredients. What is even more important is you do not have to wait for the dough to proof and rise.
Because we are using 2 ingredient dough this recipe only needs a hot oven and then you can dig in. You can serve them as a snack or as a starter. Add loads of garlic because that is what this bread needs.

As the two-ingredient dough is the base of this recipe, look at the recipe video in the recipe card below. It contains step-by-step instructions so you can easily follow along.
You will see how easy it is to make this dough.
Do Garlic Knots Need To Be Refrigerated?
Garlic knots are best eaten fresh but if you have leftover bread, it is best to store it at room temperature. There is no need to refrigerate.
When you refrigerate chances are the bread will dry out more quickly. If you want to store the bread for a longer period of time, then it is recommended to freeze the knots in a ziplock bag or airtight container.
How To Reheat Garlic Knots
When you want to warm your garlic bread again you have a number of options:
- Oven – wrap the garlic bread in tin foil and preheat your oven to 350℉/175℃. Put the bread in the oven for 6 minutes and check if it is warm. Extend for 2 more minutes if needed and check again. Make certain the tin foil is wrapped close. When you do not close the tin foil tight the bread will dry out.
- Air Fryer – you can also warm the garlic knots in an Air Fryer. Preheat the Air Fryer to 325℉/163℃ for 3 minutes. As the garlic knots are small it is recommended to wrap them in foil to keep them from drying out. Heat the garlic knots for 3-4 minutes and serve immediately.
- Microwave – this method is faster but I still prefer the oven as microwaving bread listens very closely. You need to know your microwave. Take a paper towel and spray it with water. Wrap the bread in the damp (not soaking) towel and place it on a microwave-safe dish. Put the microwave on high for 10 seconds and check if the bread is warm. Repeat if necessary for another 10 seconds.
