Air Fried Salmon bowls are a delicious and healthy dinner option for a busy weeknight! Have this delicious bowl on your table in under 30 minutes!

Thank god for grocery delivery, am I right?!?  Instacart has been a lifesaver this quarantine.  Although time slots fill up quickly, I was able to get fresh veggies from my local grocery store a couple of days ago.  I also realized through a local Facebook group that many of our local stores that don’t operate through Instacart also offer delivery during this lockdown period.  So check your local groceries now!

Back to this stunning bowl! I have been wanting to make salmon in my air fryer since I got it, and I recently got a shipment of salmon from Sitka Salmon Shares (another great option for seafood delivery) and so it was the perfect opportunity!

Is salmon good for you?

Salmon is one of the best types of fish to eat as far as nutritional value goes.  One serving of salmon (typically 3 to 4 ounces) is about 200 calories. It’s low in saturated fat and a great source of protein. It’s also one of the best sources of vitamin B12, high in potassium and other nutrients like iron and vitamin D!

How do I make an air fried salmon bowl?

Begin by marinating the salmon in a hoisin ginger marinade. Simply combine the following in a bowl:

1⁄3 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoon ginger paste
1 clove garlic minced
1 tsp sriracha
1 tbl sesame oil
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1⁄2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

Add the salmon and marinade to a zip lock bag (or a Tupperware container), seal, and refrigerate. For the best results, marinate the salmon for at least 1 hour, up to 8 hours.

Once your salmon has marinated, remove from the marinade and top with Trader Joes Everything but the Bagel seasoning and you’re ready to air fry!

How do I air fry salmon?

Air frying fish is one of my favorite things to do.  When cooking fish on the stovetop in the past, the smell of fish would permeate the whole house and linger for hours, if not days.  And since not all members in my household love fish, this became a serious issue.  Luckily, when I use my air fryer, I don’t smell it at all!  Not only that, it’s a healthier and quicker way of cooking, too!  The air fryer takes just a couple minutes to pre-heat, and food comes out so much crispier than in the oven.

After your fish has marinated, pre-heat your air fryer by letting it run empty for 2-3 minutes at 400 degrees.

Place an air fryer parchment paper round in the bottom of the air fryer.  If you don’t have parchment paper rounds made specifically for your air fryer, regular parchment paper is fine.  Place the fish on top and put the basket back in the air fryer.

Cook for 6-8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon.

Remove from the air fryer and build your bowl!

What should I put in my air fried salmon bowl?

This is where you can get creative!! You’ll want to start with a base.  I chose rice for my base.  I quickly cooked some jasmine rice in my air fryer and tossed it with a little sesame oil and freshly chopped cilantro.  You can easily make it a salad with some mixed greens or do cauliflower rice or quinoa as your base.

For the toppings, the world is your oyster!

I chose some quick pickled onion, roasted broccoli, red cabbage, shredded carrot, and pineapple!

Some other options include:

Edamame

Cucumber

Spinach

Peanuts

Green onions

Kale

Sliced jalapeno
