Ingredients

Waffle Batter

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips

Other

  • ½ cup strawberries sliced
  • ½ cup blackberries
  • Whipped cream optional
  • Nutella optional

Instructions

  • Combine all batter ingredients except chocolate chips in a large bowl. Use an immersion blender or hand mixer to mix the batter until smooth and sticky. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Prepare your waffle maker by preheating it and spray or greasing it. Cook, batch by batch in the waffle maker, flipping once for each waffle. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile place blackberries in a small pot on low-medium heat on the stove with about 1 tbsp water and a pinch of sugar. Gently heat, stirring occasionally, until the blackberries have partly broken down and the liquid is sticky.
  • Serve waffles with freshly sliced strawberries, the blackberry compote, and optionally top with whipped cream and drizzle with nutella.
