Of course, you can choose to flavor your quesadillas with a regular taco spice mix or burrito seasoning but this spice mix lifts it to a whole other level.

Or you can decide to make these spices blends recipes yourself which is way cheaper especially if you buy all the ingredients in bulk.

However, if you try to find a quesadilla seasoning mix it is not as widely available in your grocery store as the other seasonings.

To make this seasoning recipe you need the following ingredients which are likely to be in your kitchen cabinet:

  • Paprika – use mild sweet paprika
  • Cumin powder – has a slightly sweet, warming flavor with a nutty element
  • Onion powder – provides a subtle sweetness and depth of flavor to the seasoning
  • Salt – enhances the flavor of the other ingredients
  • Dried oregano – An aromatic herb that has a slightly bitter, pungent flavor. It pairs well with other herbs and spices
  • Black pepper
  • Cayenne pepper – (optional) adds a bit of heat to the seasoning

How To Make Quesadilla Seasoning

  1. It is super easy to make your spice mix. It is all about measuring the ingredients as described in the recipe.
  2. If you like spicy you can add either cayenne pepper or hot Chili powder this is different from Chili powder used in American recipes.
  3. The latter is a spice mix whereas hot Chili powder or Chili flakes are a great substitute for cayenne pepper.
  4. Put all the spices you measured and put them in a bowl. Take a spoon and stir through.
  5. Stir the seasoning for at least a minute so all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

What Is A Quesadilla?

A quesadilla is a Mexican dish made with tortilla and filled with mainly cheese and optionally meat, vegetables, beans, and spices.

Do not put it in the fridge because of condensation in the jar and the seasoning will get wet.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

    For how many pounds of chicken is this recipe? ?

      Renu,

      I add 2 tablespoons seasoning to a half a pound beef or chicken. So if you make this recipe you can season about a pound of chicken.

      I use about 1 tablespoon per half a pound of meat, poultry, or fish.
