What is so great about a chicken schnitzel is that takes even less time to prepare than regular pork or beef schnitzel.
Schnitzels are also known as Milanesa.
Chicken schnitzel is thinned by pounding with e.g. a meat hammer. I always use a rolling pin to get the same result.
A schnitzel originates from Austria but is known in many different countries with their own version:
- France
- Italy
- Germany
- Hungary
- Brazil
- Argentina
- Mexico
- Uruguay
- The Balkans
- Denmark
- Finland
You can make a schnitzel from pork, chicken, beef, turkey, veal, or mutton.
Schnitzels are great to eat for dinner but you can also serve them on a sandwich like a Mexican torta Milanesa.

How To Make A Chicken Schnitzel
To make this recipe put a sliced piece of chicken on a cutting board and cover it with a piece of cling film.
You can use a rolling pin to thin the schnitzel but a meat hammer is also a great option.
Then take a large bowl to beat an egg and put some bread crumbs in a separate bowl. Now you can add also add a bowl of flour but that is not really necessary.
Drag your schnitzel through the beaten egg on both sides. Then put the schnitzel in the breadcrumbs and move them back and forth so all of the schnitzels are covered with crumbs.
Now take a skillet and preheat to medium-hot. Then add a large knob of butter and cover the pan with butter.
When all the bubbles are gone add the schnitzel. Bake for about 3-4 minutes and in the meanwhile preheat your oven to 360F.
Turn the schnitzel and bake the other as well for about 3-4 minutes. Then put them on a baking tray and bake the schnitzels for about 5 minutes.
Slice the lemon into small strips and put it on top of your schnitzels.
