What You Need For This Recipe
For this salad recipe, you can use the ingredients mentioned below. However, add or substitute whatever ingredients on this list. Put the following ingredients on your grocery list:
- Long grain rice – use aromatic rice like Basmati or Jasmin rice. Both are long-grain and cook dry
- Scallions – thinly slice the scallion
- Garlic – use fresh minced garlic
- Bell pepper – cut sweet red bell pepper into thin strips
- Black olives – dice into small pieces
- Green olives – without a pit and finely dice
- Roma tomatoes – are plum and have a great taste
- Tuna – use canned tuna in water. Drain before use
- Parsley – to garnish use fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper – season to taste

How To Make Rice Salad With Tuna
- To make this recipe first wash the rice with warm water in a strainer. When the water is clear the rice is clean and can be cooked in a rice steamer or cook the rice in an Instant Pot, Air Fryer, Microwave or the oven.
- This will take about 10-15 minutes. When the rice is done, take the steamer’s lid and let the warm air evaporate and the rice cool.
- With a fork take the rice apart it will help the rice cool faster. Finely chop garlic, bell pepper, olives, and Roma tomatoes.
- Take these ingredients, put them in a bowl, and stir. Finely slice the scallions and add them to the bowl as well.
- Now drain the tuna from the can.
- Put the tuna in the bowl and pull the tuna apart. Stir the tuna through the bowl. Finally, add the rice and stir it through thoroughly.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Decorate with some finely chopped fresh parsley.
A Great Rice Salad Recipe
This dish is common in Andalusia the South of Spain. A great summer recipe that you can make with your favorite ingredients. You can add some olive oil and lemon juice to the recipe to give it a fresher taste.
This recipe is made with long-grain rice because of its taste but also because you can cook it dry very easily.
Cooking without a rice cooker or rice steamer is quite a challenge and more difficult. You want to use rice that is dry and doesn’t contain a lot of starch because it affects your dish.
How To Store Rice Salad With Tuna?
You have several ways to store this rice salad recipe.
- Refrigerator – you can store your rice salad in the fridge for up to 2 days. Put it in an airtight food container or a Ziploc bag
- Freezer – want to keep it longer you can store it in the freezer for up to 3 months and put it in a freezer-friendly container
If you serve this salad, make sure you heat it before serving so you eliminate any bacteria in the salad.

Rice Salad With Tuna
A great Mediterranean rice salad recipe. Try this Andalusian ensalada de arroz. You will love this easy Spanish rice salad with tuna.
Ingredients
- 200-grams Basmati rice
- 1 scallion, sliced
- 1 garlic glove, minced
- 1 red pointed pepper
- 5 black olives
- 5 green olives
- 5 Roma tomatoes
- ½ cup drained tuna
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Wash and cook the rice in a rice cooker in 10-15 minutes. Remove lid and let the rice cool
- Take rice apart with a fork
- Finely chop the garlic, red pepper, olives, and Roma tomatoes
- Take these ingredients, put them in a bowl and stir. Finely slice the scallions and add to the bowl as well. Now drain the tuna from the can
- Put the tuna to the bowl and pull the tuna apart. Stir and finely add the rice and stir it through thoroughly
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Decorate with some finely chopped fresh parsley
