Cucumber Salad Recipe
This sweet and sour salad is one of the many recipes we had at home for as long as I can remember. My dad would make it and put it in the freezer.
That way the cucumber could get cold fast when he wanted to serve it for dinner. The combination of sugar and apple cider vinegar fits perfectly together.
It is a great side dish for his chicken roti recipe. If you know the Surinam kitchen it is one of those stables you will find with every meal.
Eat it with a spicy pork meat sandwich, with fried rice, red curry, or Javanese noodles. It takes the heat out of these recipes.
Slicing Pro Tip
To get even same-sized slices of cucumber, the best you can do is use a mandolin slicer. It is really difficult to slice a cucumber into thin equal slices with a knife.
Besides slicing the cucumber with a mandolin you can also slice your red onion in really thin slices.

To make this easy cucumber recipe you need a limited number of ingredients. Put the following ingredients on your grocery list:

How Long Can You Keep Cucumber Outside The Fridge?
Before you use the cucumber in this salad recipe the best way to keep them is outside the fridge. You can see this in the grocery store.
The cucumbers are kept outside the refrigerator. If you put a cucumber in temperatures below 50℉/10℃ it will deteriorate due to cold injury.
