How To Make Creamy Garlic Salmon

  1. This recipe starts with preheating a skillet over medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, add the olive oil. Wash the salmon and dap it dry with a paper towel.
  2. Make sure the salmon is dry else the oil will be everywhere. Put the salmon in the hot pan and sear. Resist the urge to move the salmon around in the pan.
  3. Squeeze the lemon on top of the salmon. Leave for at least 3 minutes. The fish will be released from the pan. Cook for a total of 5 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the filets from the pan and set them aside.

  6. Then add the sliced mushrooms and stir until golden brown.
  7. Pour the white wine into the pan. Scrape the salmon bits from the bottom of the pan while stirring it with a wooden spoon.
  8. Now add the cooking cream, stir, and let it simmer for 30 seconds before reducing the heat until you see an occasional bubble in the skillet.
  9. Return the salmon to the pan and stir it in the sauce. Sprinkle with finely chopped parsley. Serve your salmon dinner.

Farmed Salmon Versus Wild Salmon

You can make this recipe with farmed salmon or wild salmon. There are several differences between farmed salmon compared to wild salmon. These differences are:

  • Calories – wild salmon contains fewer calories
  • Color – farmed salmon is more orange in color than wild salmon and is pink
  • Protein – wild salmon contains more protein
  • Fats and vitamines – farmed salmon contains more saturated fats but also more vitamins A and D

Farmed salmon is fattier than wild salmon. So, if you can find wild Alaskan salmon, I would recommend it. In this recipe, I use white wine but if you do not like the taste of wine, you can easily substitute it with chicken broth.

How To Store Garlic Salmon

If you have leftover garlic salmon you have several storage options:

  • Refrigerator – it is best to store it in the refrigerator. Put it in an airtight food container and you can store it for about 2 days
  • Freezer – you can store this fish in the freezer but as your sauce contains cooking cream it is very likely the sauce will separate after you thaw it. If you do mind you can store it in a freezer-friendly food container. Store it for up to 1 month

How To Reheat Garlic Salmon

When you have leftover salmon, you have several ways to reheat it:

  • Stovetop – it is easy to reheat the salmon on the stovetop. Preheat your skillet to medium and add your sauce. Let it simmer then add the salmon. Do not heat on high as this will dry out the fish. Heat until warm
  • Oven – you can also reheat in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375℉/190℃. Put the leftover salmon and sauce in an oven dish and cover it with aluminum foil. Heat for 10 minutes and check to see if the fish is heated through
