Ingredients for making tacos with steak bites.

How To Make Mexican Steak Tacos

  1. We are making steak bites first. Cut the steak into 1-2 inches size cubes, sprinkle with cajun seasoning, and stir. Heat a skillet with olive oil and add the seasoned steak. Stir to sear the steak in 1 to 2 minutes if you like medium and 3 minutes if you like medium well.
  2. Take the steak bites out of the pan and set aside. Melt butter and add minced garlic. Stir to soften the garlic. Return the steak bites to the pan and stir to cover with garlic butter. Take out of the pan and set aside.
  3. Finely chop the onion, sweet red pepper, and garlic. Then heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet so you can sauté the onion, garlic, and sweet red pepper until soft and translucent. This takes about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Cut the mushrooms in 4 and add to the skillet. Add the mushrooms to the pan and pan-fry until they are nice and brown which will take about 3 minutes.
  5. Now it is time to preheat the oven to 400℉/200℃ and warm the flour tortillas. Wrap the tortilla in aluminum foil so no tortilla is visible and warm them for 7-8 minutes. This way the tortillas will stay soft and warm instead of warm and crunchy.
  6. Cover the skillet with aluminum foil as well and put them in the oven as well to warm. You can do this while you are warming the flour tortillas.
  7. Now it is time to prepare your tacos:
    • Tortillas – take a warm tortilla and sprinkle some sliced iceberg lettuce on it
    • Mushroom mix – then add two to three tablespoons of bell pepper mushroom mix on top
    • Steak bites – finally add the steak bites
