If you are busy and don’t have time to make your own dough, go to a local supermarket, buy a prepared pizza base and you’ll still have a good pizza experience. Although we encourage you to make your own dough, it’s healthier, tastier and thinner then the store brought one.

Pizza is one of those recipes that is so easy to make. All you have to do is to make (or buy) a pizza base that is the hardest part, but yet so easy. And then to spread the tomato sauce, and add all the topping ingredients you love! We decided to show you one of our favorite pizzas with 3 types of cheese.

When it comes to choosing the best cheese, you’ll never go wrong with any Italian, French, or Dutch cheese. Here we decided to use 2 Italian (Ricotta & Parmesan) and 1 Dutch (Edam) cheese. Mozzarella is also a great option, but we skipped it this time. If you end up making this pizza with different types of cheese let us know we would like to know what you have chosen.

CRUST INGREDIENTS

  • about 2 1/3 cup (300g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • about 3/4 cup warm water

FILLING INGREDIENTS

  •  3.5 oz (100g) sliced mushrooms
  • 1.8 oz (50g) Edam cheese
  • 1.8 oz (50g) Ricotta cheese
  • 100 ml tomato passata sauce
  • 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese
  • 3 green olives

INSTRUCTIONS

  • CRUST:
    • In a large bowl combine 1/2 (150g) of flour, yeast, sugar, and stir until combined.
    • Then add salt, olive oil, and warm water and stir everything well.
    • Gradually add the rest of the flour and stir constantly until you form a cohesive – elastic ball. Don’t add all the flour if it’s not necessary, you don’t want your pizza to be hard for your stomach.
    • Let the dough sit for about 30 minutes in a bowl covered with a plastic lid. Depending on your room temperature sometimes it takes 1 hour. Let it rise until doubled in size.
    • At this point preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • When the dough has risen, transfer it to a clean surface lightly dusted with flour. Use a rolling pin to form a pizza base circle of 11” (28cm).
  • Transfer the pizza base into a round baking sheet. Smooth tomato passata sauce over the pizza base with the back of the spoon. Add sliced mushrooms first, then Edam slices and on top of it add ricotta cheese.
  • Let it bake for about 15 minutes. When done, add parmesan cheese on top and garnish with green olives.
  • Let it cool and enjoy your delicious Italian Homemade Tre Formaggi Pizza!
