To make this easy taco recipe you have to get several ingredients. Put the following products on your grocery list:

  • Tortillas – use small flour tortillas for this recipe
  • Turkey – use ground turkey or substitute with ground chicken
  • Olive oil
  • Red Onion – finely dice
  • White onion – finely dice
  • Bell pepper – dice sweet red bell pepper
  • Garlic – mince fresh garlic
  • Seasoning – add Mexican seasoning
  • Oregano – dried oregano
  • Tomato puree
  • Jalapeno pepper – finely dice
  • Avocado – diced
  • Lettuce – finely sliced Iceberg lettuce

  1. To make this tasty ground turkey taco recipe you start with heating a skillet. When the cast-iron skillet is simmering add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Then add the finely chopped onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño pepper, and garlic and cook until soft and translucent. This takes about 5 minutes.
  3. Now it is time to add the ground turkey meat. Pan-fry the meat and move it around constantly so the meat can brown.
  4. When the ground turkey is just getting color, add the Mexican seasoning and stir the meat again. Add the tomato puree and stir it through the meat and add water. Turn to a medium simmer and let the meat cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. Season the turkey with salt and pepper to taste, if you like. Now it is time to plate your tacos.

  • Liquids – add enough liquids like water, stock, or oil when you cook with ground turkey. Do not cook it too long because it will dry out

  • Air Fryer – you can also reheat them in your Air Fryer. The easiest way is to leave the tacos wrapped in aluminum foil. Preheat the Air Fryer to 375℉/190℃ for 3 minutes and heat the tacos for 8-10 or until warm
  • Cast-iron skillet – preheat your cast-iron skillet to medium and add 1 – 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Line up the tacos in the skillet and warm gradually for 10-15 minutes or until the ground beef has an internal temperature of at least 170℉/76℃

Ground Turkey Tacos

Ingredients

  • 8 flour tortillas
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small red onion finely chopped
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • ½ red bell pepper finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons homemade Mexican seasoning (note 1)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ cup water
  • 4 tablespoons tomato puree
  • ¼ jalapeno pepper
  • ½ avocado sliced
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet until medium-hot. Add a tablespoon olive oil
  2. Add the finely chopped onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño pepper, and garlic and cook until soft and translucent. Takes about 5 minutes
  3. Add the ground turkey meat. Pan-fry the meat until the meat is brown
  4. When the meat is getting color add the Mexican seasoning and stir the meat again
  5. Now add the tomato puree and stir it through the meat and add water. Bring to a simmer and let the meat cook for 4 to 5 minutes
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste, if you like. Plate your tacos and you are ready to serve

Note 1 - you can substitute the Mexican seasoning for taco seasoning
