Ingredients for making garlic bread with pesto.

How To Make Garlic Bread

  1. To make this recipe the main ingredient is pesto butter. Homemade pesto butter because you can make basil pesto or vegan arugula pesto in no time.
  2. It also tastes better so why bother to buy this in the store? Take your unsalted butter out of the fridge so it can go a little soft and is workable.
  3. Put about 3 to 4 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl. Work it with a spoon to get soft butter before you add a big tablespoon of homemade pesto.
  4. Now combine the butter and fresh garlic until you get smooth garlic butter. Add some salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Preheat the oven to 450℉/200℃. Take the soft baguette and cut it into thick slices of about 4 inches/ 2 cm slices but not all the way through.
  6. Then spread the garlic butter in between the sliced bread. Finish with some garlic butter on top.
  7. Wrap the baguette with some tin foil and bake in the oven for 15 minutes on a baking sheet.
  8. Open the tin foil and let it back for a couple of minutes to get crunchy bread and golden brown.
  9. Remove the foil and add some of the remaining butter mixtures to the warm bread. Serve your homemade garlic bread immediately.

Garlic Bread With Pesto Recipe

When we go out to eat, we always get some bread as a starter. But strangely enough, we never get garlic bread of any kind. If we are lucky, we get some garlic butter on the side but for some reason, we never get crusty garlic bread.

If you try this recipe, you will see that this is a missed opportunity because this recipe is easy, tasty, crunchy, and delicious.

With only three ingredients. This garlic bread is of the kind that want to keep around at all times.

Prepare it, store it in the freezer, and take it out when you get unexpected guests.

You can make a baguette but allow me to share a secret. Make this garlic bread with pesto and the cheapest baguette you can find. Preferably a soft pre-baked French bread.

As opposed to the cheesy crack bread that required crusty bread you now need a soft baguette. It will allow the ingredients to be absorbed by the bread and get a crunchy crust.

Garlic Bread Ingredient Options

This bread is great just as it is but you can easily add the following ingredients:

  • Basil pesto – instead of arugula pesto you can add some basil pesto
  • Garlic and parsley – Mince the garlic and stir it through butter with a tablespoon of parsley
  • Mozzarella cheese – just like with the crack bread you can also add some shredded mozzarella or Gouda cheese between the bread slices
  • Tapenade – add some rustic olive tapenade to the butter
  • Sun-dried tomatoes – cut into small pieces and add them to the garlic butter

Thanks! My fiancé is an amazing cook but me, not so much! I made this today for dinner so he didn’t have to cook. It was great! Easy enough for this inexperienced cook and tasty enough for his experienced taste buds! I added a super reduced balsamic on top since we use it for Caprese salad and it baked onto the chicken really well. This recipe is a keeper! Any idea for a balsamic Like sauce to go with it?
