Yes way rosé!

I think we’ve all heard of the rosé craze, right? All I have to say is I’m here for it. I will tout the rosé all day mantra… well… all day.

If you haven’t tried frozen rosé (or frosé as it’s commonly called) before you’re in for a treat! It’s sweet, light and refreshing. Add in some watermelon and it just SCREAMS summertime! Imagine sitting outside on the beach with a glass of this frozen watermelon rosé slushie. Summer in a glass!

There are many ways to make frozen rosé wine slushies, but this is my favorite. It only requires TWO ingredients, making it super easy. Many recipes call for using ice cubes, however, I personally like to make ice cubes out of the rosé itself because no need for adding water to dilute the flavor of the rosé, am I right?

Basically all you need to do is freeze rosé in ice cube trays, cut up some fresh watermelon and place it in the freezer, add to a blender with additional rosé, and BLEND! I’ve also seen some recipes using simple syrup, which honestly… too much work for my liking. I don’t typically add sweetener to my frozen rosé because I think the watermelon is sweet enough. However, I’ve also made this recipe using agave. I love using agave in drink recipes because it’s a liquid sweetener and it blends well with the watermelon and rosé. You can also use a simple syrup if you wish. I recommend trying it first without the sweetener and then adding in the agave if you would like your drink sweeter.

I love topping my frosé with a watermelon wedge and a cute paper straw for an extra festive drink. I had one of my neighbors over for a drink while our dogs played and served this watermelon rosé slushie and we both loved the extra bit of fun with the watermelon wedge and straw. If you’re serving this for a party, I think it would be adorable to do a green straw to play off the watermelon theme even more!

Tips and Tricks for Making Watermelon Frosé Slushies

  • You don’t need to buy a super expensive bottle of rosé wine. I made this slushie with wine that was about $10 a bottle. It works perfectly every time!
  • Choose a rosé that is a darker pink to get a good color for your slushie. If you choose a lighter pink then your slushie will just be lighter in color.
  • I prefer a rosé on the dryer side, but again I’m not a fan of overly sweet drinks so choose a rosé that you enjoy drinking!
  • If you let the frozen watermelon rosé slushie sit for a bit, the watermelon may settle to the bottom. Give it a swirl with your straw to get it to mix back together. Place any leftovers in the freezer until you’re ready to serve and give it a quick blend in the blender.
  • I used my Vitamix, but you don’t need a high powered blender for this recipe. It works great with a normal blender, too!
