So how do you make pita chips? Very easily and they taste amazing.

Your base ingredient is pita bread. I like to use homemade pita bread but if you have store-bought you can use them as well.

Take a pita and cut it through the middle so you have two halves. Then cut the first halved pita into wedges.

One halved pita slice can yield 8 wedges so a whole pita bread yields 16 wedges.

Take a bowl and add 3 tablespoons of olive oil to the bowl. Then take your favorite spice mix e.g:

You can add salt and pepper to taste but this is optional.

Mix the olive oil and the spices well. Now take a big bowl and add the pita bread wedges and cover them with the oil mixture.

Mix with a spoon or your hands so every pita wedge is covered with the oil-spice mix. Then lay them out on a baking tray while you pre-heat the oven at 420℉/200℃.

Bake the pita chips for 10 to 12 minutes in the oven or until golden brown and crispy.

Turn the wedges halfway through the baking time. Take out of the oven and serve immediately.

How To Store Pita Chips

If you make a big batch with pita chips or you have some leftovers you have several ways to store them:

  • Room temperature – you can store your pita chips at room temperature. Put them in an airtight food container or a resealable bag. You can store them for up to a week
  • Freezer – if you want to keep them longer you can also store them in the freezer. Put the chips in a freezer-friendly food container and you can keep them for up to 3 months

How To Reheat Pita Chips

If you have stale pita chips you have several ways to revive them. You are reheating your pita chips:

  • Oven – you can also revive stale chips in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Add your pita to the baking sheet and pop them in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Keep a close eye that the chips do not burn. Turn if needed and serve immediately
  • Air Fryer – you can also reheat pita chips in an Air Fryer. Preheat the Air Fryer to 350℉ for 3 minutes. Put the pita chips in the Air Fryer basket and heat for 3 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through the baking time
  • Microwave – you can also use the microwave to revive your pita chips. Put the leftovers in a microwave bowl and set the timer to 30 seconds. Check to see if they are done else repeat

Serves: 32 Prep Time: 3 minutes Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes

An easy homemade pita chips recipe. The best way to use up your leftover pita bread and the best snack when you want something savory.

Ingredients

  • 2 pita bread
  • 3 tbsp of olive oil
  • 2 tbsp of spice blend (e.g. oregano, parsley, cumin, paprika)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut a pita bread through the middle and then in two halves
  2. Cut the halved pita in wedges.
  3. Add 3 tbsp of olive oil in a bowl
  4. Then 2 tbsp of spice blend, salt and pepper to taste
  5. Mix the olive oil and spices. Add the pita wedge and cover them with the oil mixture
  6. Pre-heat the oven at 420℉/200℃
  7. Lay the pita wedges on a baking tray
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy
  9. Serve immediately

Notes

One half pita can yield 8 wedges and 1 whole pita 16 wedges.
You can also make crispy pita chips in an Air Fryer.
