Crockpot BBQ Cola Pork Chops only require 4 ingredients. They are so easy because they are made in the slow cooker and are ready when you are.
In the summer I usually make a quick salad and steam some veggies to go with these Crockpot BBQ Cola Pork Chops.
Summertime is a great time to make dishes in the slow cooker. It is usually 90°-100°+ this time of year here in Kansas, and this is a great way to keep the house cooler.
We are often running around in the summer, so I can have dinner on the table in about 20 minutes after we get home.
Depending on the salad, I sometimes prepare it when I throw the chops in the slow cooker.
In the winter I usually make a starchy side dish like rice or potatoes, and a steamed or roasted veggie to go with these.
Lighter meals are a favorite during the warmer months. I notice more now, having this blog, that we eat seasonally.
Lee still has me make Chicken & Noodles for his birthday in June though. It is a half-day affair, but I don’t mind, they are his favorite.
I really am a lucky gal. He buys me jewelry for my birthday and I make him food for his, it is fabulous!
The old saying “The way to a man’s heart is through his belly” rings true in this house.
This recipe comes from 365 days of SLOW COOKING. I followed the recipe exactly as written and it was yummy.
Next time, I am going to try it with only a half a can of cola to make the sauce a little thicker, and less sweet.
I used the products I always have on hand. Any kind of barbecue sauce would work for this. In fact, a spicier barbecue sauce would be delicious, to balance the sweetness of the cola.
We don’t eat foods that are too spicy, so I almost always use the original or honey variety of barbecue sauce.
I have tried many different brands, and to me, the Great Value is as good as any, and saves us money.
I use different sauces for different dishes, so all of our barbecue dishes don’t taste too much alike. We do that with pasta sauces, too.
These are the kind of pork chops I used. ↑ They were a little thicker than 1/2 inch. The bone-in thin variety or the butterfly variety would also work in this recipe.
The meat was very tender. They weren’t too awfully expensive either, two bucks for a pork chop isn’t too bad.
Especially if you consider what you would pay for them at a restaurant or barbecue joint.
