Smoothie bowls are easy to make. Just add all the ingredients to the blender bowl and pulse for a minute or two. Having the ingredients already cut  in the  freezer  or  fridge   makes it even more easier in the morning.

Your pre-teens or teens will be able to make themselves a healthy breakfast or snack with this meal. There are days when I add more almond milk to this and the kids sip it on the way to the school , but as for me I like the thick texture with  the  shredded coconut sprinkled on top ?.

Before I forget
This post is part of #choctoberfest 2018. It is chocolate extravaganza .To know more about #choctoberfest chick here. There are recipes to check out, products to try and prizes to win. This year it includes an Instant Pot and lots of other great prizes (Total value $400!).

Everything that goes into this smoothie bowl is considered health food – cocoa , fruits , milk  and chia seeds.

The chocolate used here (cocoa) is from Barlean’s.  Barlean’s is one of the sponsors for this years #choctoberfest. Barlean’s

Barlean’s  say they are  “ Your trusted source for chocolaty goodness super food nutrition”, and  in  my experience  it  has  been   true.  Not just in chocolaty goodness but in other health food categories as well.

Barlean’s Chocolate Silk Greens Powder

This smoothie bowl is made with Barlean’s Chocolate Silk Greens Powder. Amazingly they have found a way to make chocolate even more of a super food! Chocolate Greens Silk powder is loaded with antioxidants from cocoa (fair-trade of course) and nutrients from more than a dozen fruits and veggies. It’s also vegan and devoid of major allergens AND loaded with fiber.

So the natural question to ask is – “ Ok it is good for you, but is it good ?”. Well to my delight it did taste absolutely delicious and CLEAN! My one major gripe with energy/supplement powders is that it leaves a gritty, chalky or slimy feel. There is none of that here. It tastes simply chocolaty

Milk

I prefer to make this smoothie bowl with non dairy milk. The flavors blend together much better with almond or coconut milk. If you prefer regular milk, by all means go with it.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are here for two reasons – one it makes the smoothie slightly thicker and two it is also a powerhouse of nutrition. Since chia seeds have a lot of good fiber and can absorb quite a large amount of water , it helps one feel full longer.
