Yogurt Parfait | Fruit and Granola

This yogurt parfait recipe is made with vanilla yogurt, fresh fruit, and crunchy granola. Serve it up for breakfast or enjoy it as a protein-packed snack!

Two glasses of layered yogurt with berries and granola on the table

Of course, you can use whatever yogurt you like but if you haven’t tried Wallaby yogurt, you are in for a treat. What I love about this vanilla bean Greek yogurt is how tasty it is. It is also a mellow and creamy yogurt. It’s almost like it has been whipped.

Then add layers of fruit and granola between the tasty yogurt and you have a winning and satisfying taste treat.

Helpful tips

  • I love creamy Greek yogurt, but if you can’t find the Wallaby brand, then use what you like or even a smooth regular vanilla yogurt.
  • Use a granola that won’t be overpowering, such as vanilla chocolate chip (pictured).
  • I love the combination of strawberries and cherries together, but use whichever fresh berries you prefer, like fresh raspberries and blueberries.
  • Other ingredients that taste delicious in a parfait: bananas, nuts, coconut, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter, drizzled maple syrup, and chia seeds.
  • Use organic fruit whenever you can because there is a taste difference.
  • That said, always wash fruit thoroughly, even organic fruit.
  • I find two layers of all the ingredients is a healthy amount, but you could do this parfait in three layers if you keep the layers thinner.
  • Use a nice glass to house the yogurt parfait since we eat with our eyes as well as our mouths.
  • You can use any combination of fruit but I like to use contrasting colors.

Pre-step

Get the glassware you’re going to serve it in and a tablespoon.

Step one

Gather the ingredients – strawberries, cherries, Wallaby organic Greek vanilla bean yogurt and granola. (A)

Step two

Dollop yogurt in the bottom of the glasses. (B)

Left - strawberries, cherries, yogurt, granola and glassware. Right - A spoonful of yogurt held over a glass

Step three

Add the pitted and halved cherries on top of the yogurt and sliced strawberries on top of the cherries. (C)

Step four

Sprinkle granola on fruit. (D)

Left - cut strawberries and cherries on the yogurt. Right, granola sprinkled on the fruit

Step five

Layer of yogurt on granola. (E)

Step six

Add another fruit layer. (F)

Left - yogurt spooned on the granola. Right - fruit spooned on the yogurt

All that is left to these yogurt parfaits is to sprinkle more granola on top.

Notes

When I make this, I don’t measure out the ingredients, this is a rough measure.  I dollop the yogurt in the glass and eyeball how much I want.  I believe I used close to a cup of yogurt in each parfait.

  15. I love granola and yogurt partfaits for breakfast! Although this post makes me feel like my family has defective tastebuds — we have done blind taste tests of organic vs nonorganic fruit and have never been able to taste a difference. We do love buying local from the farmers market, though!

    1. I don’t think you have defective taste buds. I think it’s because I’ve been eating organic for so long, I can tell when it isn’t. Thanks for your comment, Julie!

  16. I will be saving this breakfast idea for next week. I have already been to the grocery store this week, but I will be starting my days with this very soon.

  17. This looks delicious! I’m searching for a recipe that I can make in lil disposable shot glasses (with a mini spoon) for a brunch soon. Your recipe fits the bill! Can this be made in advance or will the granola get soggy? Will it hold up for a few hours? Any other tips or thoughts that might help? Thank you in advance.

    1. Great idea, Faye. I think the granola will be fine for a few hours. I use a really hearty brand of granola that I get at whole foods and that holds up really well! It has lots of clumps in it, which I think helps. I’d also try not to pack the yogurt on the granola so it has less of a chance to get soggy. Good luck and have a great brunch!
