Lavender infused sugar is amazing. A little lavender flavor in your sugar will turn a regular day into a special day.

This lavender infused sugar will give your sugar a special hint of citrus and floral notes.  It’s a gourmet-level sugar that will add a distinct boost in flavor to drinks, baked goods and just about anything your little heart can imagine.

There are no limits to what you can do with lavender infused sugar. I am loving how it flavors my earl grey tea in the morning. It tastes great with any tea but there is something about the combination of earl grey and lavender that has me charmed.

Lavender-infused sugar makes a great gift

One of my favorite uses for lavender-infused sugar is that it makes a special food gift. Pour it in small jars and decorate the lid with some fabric or a ribbon for a personal touch. You could add a little note telling the recipient how to use it.

Here are some suggestions.

  • Sweeten tea or coffee
  • Stir into lemonade
  • Sprinkle on fresh fruit
  • Add it to whipped cream
  • Mix it into muffin and cookie batter
  • Sprinkle on pancakes or waffles

This really is a great gift idea. It makes a perfect bridal party gift.

You could fill several little jars for an entire bridal party or just one to use as a housewarming gift. It also makes a great Christmas gift for that foodie we all know.

Give it to a friend today and make their day extra sweet.

How to make lavender infused sugar

All it takes to make a lovely lavender flavored sugar is some culinary lavender buds and some sugar. That’s it. If you want to keep the lavender buds whole, you can just stir them into some sugar and let the sugar sit for a few days. But we wanted smaller bits of lavender that would blend into all the things we love.

To get the lavender broken into smaller bits, we added them to a food processor. Then we added a small scoop of sugar. You need to add a little sugar because there isn’t enough lavender to touch the blade of the food processor.

By adding some sugar, you will bring the volume up a bit and the blade will do a better job chopping the lavender buds.

Don’t add all the sugar yet because the processor will chop the sugar as well as the lavender. If you process the sugar long enough, you will end up with powdered sugar. So that’s why you only want to add enough sugar to get the lavender to touch the blade.

Once the lavender buds get chopped up into smaller bits, you can add the rest of the sugar and pulse the processor once or twice to blend it all together. Voila!! You now have lavender infused sugar. If you let it sit for a day or two, it will develop more lavender flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender buds

Instructions

  • Place 1/2 cup of the sugar and all of the lavender buds in a food processor and process for a couple of minutes to chop up the lavender buds.
  • Once the lavender buds have been slightly broken, add the rest of the sugar and pulse once or twice to blend all the sugar with the lavender.

Notes

Don’t add all the sugar to the food processor when you chop the lavender or you could end up with powdered sugar.
You need to add a small amount of sugar to the food processor when you chop the lavender, otherwise, the small amount of lavender will not reach the blades.
When you process the sugar and lavender in the first step, the small amount of sugar can get a bit powdery and create some “sugar dust”. Keep the lid on until the powdery dust settles down.
