Great Meals for Quality Time

Sunday dinner is a tradition I think every family should have.

Even if you are a family of one, the idea of preparing a wholesome meal on a Sunday is a great way to reset for the week and the leftovers make for a great lunch or dinner on a busy Monday.

I have been a participant of the Sunday dinner my whole life. Even when I lived on my own as a single person I always prepared something extra special on Sunday night for myself or my single cousins.

The importance of Sunday dinners is that it requires you to take pause and reset for the week.

It isn’t possible to make this type of effort for a meal every week. But when it is possible, there is nothing like switching on a good Hallmark movie, getting some laundry going, and putting on a nice meal to enjoy in the early evening with people you love.

I gathered up a few of my favorite recipes that will have you feeling all the Sunday love. These dinners are a little more time-consuming than my usual recipes, but trust me: they are worth the time and effort.

Helen’s Super Special Meatloaf

This meatloaf is a great dinner that yields even more delicious leftovers.

A surefire way to meal plan is to double this recipe and freeze one uncooked loaf to use on a busy day when you don’t feel like cooing.

*Disclaimer: Typically there is no ketchup on this delicious loaf, it just looked better for the picture. Trust me, it doesn’t need ketchup.

Grilled Pork Roast with Butter Steamed Bread Dumplings

This is a Tipsy family favorite. This recipe can also be prepared inside in your oven. It is a perfect dinner for a Sunday and the leftover pork can be used during the week for sandwiches, salads or even a stir fry.

Chopped Steak with Whipped Potatoes

This is a diner class that you can make at home. The addition of the mushrooms makes for such great flavor!

Is it a little old-fashioned? Of course. Much like Sunday dinner, that’s what makes it so great.

Beef Stew with Mini Potato Dumplings

Nothing beats a slow cooked beef stew. This recipe has beer in it which makes the meat even more tender and flavorful.

Plus, it’s Sunday evening so you’re not looking to drive anywhere right? Eat up and relax.

I replaced the traditional potatoes with mini potato dumplings and it adds a great flavor and texture.

Lasagna Soup

Okay I lied when I said these would all take more effort. This recipe is super easy but is perfect for a lazy Sunday on the couch.

In fact, I’d say it’s one of the best I have ever made and is also of the most popular on my blog! I think you will add this one to your regular meal plan when you see how easy and delicious it is!
