Instructions for making the best BAKLAVA

Important: Defrost your phyllo dough. Don’t use frozen phyllo because it will crack.

Again, be sure the phyllo is defrosted.

(put the package of phyllo in the refrigerator the night before you are going to make the baklava)

The first step is to make filling which is super easy.

Mix 4 eggs and 1 cup sugar for about 5 minutes.

Add 1 cup oil and 1 cup yogurt and mix all ingredients for a minute.

Add 1/2 TBSP baking powder and mix it in.

Set aside.

Ground 5 cups of walnuts using a food processor.

Set aside.

Assembly Station for Baklava Easy Recipe

Oil 9×13 pan using 1 TBSP oil.

Place a sheet of phyllo in the prepared pan and add 1 cup filling.

Add second sheet of phyllo and 1 cup filling.

Add third sheet of phyllo, 1 cup of filling and 1 1/2 cups of ground walnuts.

Repeat all steps above.

Repeat all steps above one more time.

Top with additional 2 sheets of phyllo and cut into desired size.

Preheat oven to 375 F and bake for 23 minutes.

Meanwhile, make the syrup.

The Syrup

Bring water, sugar and lemon pieces to boil and boil for about 5 minutes.

(until sugar is dissolved)

When the baklava is baked remove from the oven.

Carefully pour the hot syrup over the baklava being sure to coat each piece.

Let it sit overnight before serving.
