How To Make Roasted Chickpeas

Making this roasted chickpeas recipe is super easy and requires only a couple of steps. Start by rinsing them in water and draining them.

Pad them dry or let them air dry before you put them in a bowl.

Then add the olive oil to the chickpeas and mix them with a spoon so they are all covered with oil.

Preheat the oven to 420℉/200℃ before you spread the chickpeas on a baking tray. Bake them for 30-40 minutes and toss the chickpeas every 10 minutes.

After 30-40 minutes try a chickpea if still soft extend the cooking time by another 10 minutes and try again.

Depending on the size of the chickpeas they can remain softer and need more time to crisp up.

Easy Spicy Snack Recipe

If you need aquafaba for your vegan banana protein muffins recipe you end up with a whole can of chickpeas.

Of course, you can make great hummus but what if you like to try something else? Enter spicy roasted chickpeas as a perfect snack.

When you make these roasted chickpeas, they transform from soft peas into a crispy, yummy, and nutty snack.

You can also make this snack from dried chickpeas if you have them. Put them in a mixing bowl and soak them in water overnight.

That way you can use them the next day.

Steps

Whether you use canned or dried chickpeas in both cases take the following steps:

  1. Rinse the chickpeas and dry them thoroughly with a kitchen towel or paper towel
  2. Peel the chickpeas. Every chickpea has translucent skin that is easy to remove but a daunting take. Take three bowls. One for your unpeeled chickpeas, one bowl for the peeled ones, and one bowl for the skin
  3. This recipe contains oil but you can decide to bake them oil-free
  4. Toss the chickpeas regularly to make certain that all sides are evenly baked
  5. As you can see in the instruction add the seasoning after you baked them

How To Store Your Roasted Chickpeas

If you can resist eating all these oven-baked roasted peas at once and you have leftovers you can store them in:

  • A glass jar – to keep the roasted chickpeas crispy and crunchy you can store them in glass jars. You can store them for a couple of days this way
  • Airtight food container – an airtight food container is another great way to store these crunchy chickpeas

You can store them for a couple of days but it is recommended to eat the roasted out of the oven.
