How To Make Sticky Buns With Cinnamon

  1. Start this sticky buns recipe with the dough that is made by hand. Make a flour circle and combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water (approx. 70℉/30℃) to activate the yeast.
  2. Then add milk and a ½ beaten egg to the water.
  3. As salt breaks down the yeast, I sprinkle the salt on the flour wall. Now it is time to dig in and combine the water, yeast, egg, and milk mixture and add the flour.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until elastic and soft. When it turns into a consistent dough it is time to take soft butter and knead it through the dough.
  5. At first, it will be slippery and sticky but resist the urge to add flour. Keep on kneading the butter through the dough.
  6. Then cut the dough into 6 equal golf ball pieces and knead them thoroughly.
  7. Line a baking tray with baking paper and put the dough balls on the baking tray. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it proof for 1 hour.
  8. To make the sticky buns in a heart shape roll a ball into a long string. Combine the brown castor sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Brush with water and roll through brown castor sugar and cinnamon mix. Roll them into the shape of a heart.
  10. Preheat the oven to 500℉/250℃ and bake the sticky buns for about 10 minutes. Take out of the oven, cool slightly and serve these heart-shaped sticky buns with cinnamon.

Sticky Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Capture the way to your sweetheart’s heart and surprise them with these buns. This is one of my favorite recipes. The base of this sticky bun recipe is the Dutch version of a sweet cinnamon roll recipe which we call the bolus.

The main difference between this sticky bun and a cinnamon roll is the sticky bun is covered in cinnamon sugar and cinnamon buns are covered with cinnamon sugar on one side.

The Dutch bolus is usually swirled but the outside is covered with cinnamon sugar, sticky all over. This is a bread roll you can buy primarily in the South of Holland.

So, if I want to eat them, I have to make them myself. This is great because what better way to express the love for food than to shape it into a heart?

Taste these sticky buns with cinnamon rolls and you will fall in love. They might be slightly different than what you normally eat but you will want them over and over again

These buns are sticky and sweet from the caramelized castor sugar that is combined with the cinnamon. The buns made with sweet bread dough are soft and a little chewy. They taste even better the day after baking.

You can keep them in the freezer so you can enjoy them the whole week (if they taste that long).
