Pulled Chicken Fajitas Ingredients
If you want to make this easy fajitas recipe, be sure to bring home the following ingredients from the store. Have them ready when you start:
- Chicken breast
- Small tortillas
- Onion
- Red bell pepper
- Garlic powder
- Olive oil
- Fajitas seasoning
You can find all the ingredient amounts and instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
How To Make Perfect Pulled Chicken Fajitas
For this recipe start with preparing the chicken first. To make pulled chicken, boil the chicken in a pot with water on a low simmer and cook for 25 minutes.
Take the chicken out of the water and shred it with two forks into the perfect pulled chicken. Put the chicken in a bowl and set it aside.
Then it is time to season the fajitas. You can either use fajitas seasoning mix that you can make yourself or combine the following spices:
- Cumin powder
- Paprika powder
- Cilantro powder
- Pinch of chili powder (hot variety)
- Garlic powder
Combine the spices and put them on the pulled chicken. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to the chicken and stir thoroughly and set aside.
Now heat a cast-iron skillet with some more olive oil and pan-fry the spiced pulled chicken. This will take a couple of minutes.
Add some water if the chicken sticks to the pan. Take out of the pan and heat some more olive oil again. Stir fry the sliced bell peppers and onion until soft.
You can heat small tortillas in the oven wrapped in aluminum for about 5 minutes at 350℉/175℃ and you are ready to plate them up.
Serve with some Mexican rice.
Delicious Chicken Fajitas Recipe
I love chicken you can see in the number of recipes with chicken that I made. It is light and contains a lot of protein which is really good for your muscles.
Especially when you work out regularly your muscles need protein and chicken is an excellent option. These chicken fajitas are so easy to make.
In just 5 steps you get the most perfect pulled chicken you have ever tasted. Chicken is quick-cooking meat but can become very dry.
That is why I like to make pulled chicken because it will not dry the meat as much. So, to get pulled chicken you start by bringing water to a boil or you can use chicken stock.
If you own a pressure cooker it is also very easy to make your pulled chicken in it like Instant Pot pulled chicken.
You can also use chicken stock if you like.
How To Store Fajitas
When you have leftovers the easiest way to store them is separated so store the chicken fajitas filling and tortillas separately. That way it is easier to reheat and compile without your fajitas getting soggy:
- Room temperature – you can store the tortillas at room temperature. Put them in a resealable bag and you can keep them at room temperature for 2 to 3 days
- Refrigerator – put the chicken filling in an airtight food container and store it for up to 2 to 3 days
- Freezer – want to keep them longer you can put the filling and tortillas in the freezer. Put them in a freezer-friendly container and you can keep them for up to 3 months
How To Reheat Fajitas
You also have several ways to reheat your fajita filling:
- Cast iron skillet – the easiest way to reheat fajita filling is by using a skillet and heating it on your stove. Let the chicken warm through completely. Heat your tortillas and compile them into fajita
- Air Fryer – you can also use the Air Fryer to reheat the fajita filling. Preheat the Air Fryer to 375℉/190℃ with a cake pan inside. Add some vegetable oil and add your fajitas. Let it warm for 4-5 minutes. Stir it halfway through. Extend if the chicken is not completely warm
- Microwave – put the fajita filling in a microwave-safe container and heat for 1-minute, stir and repeat until the filling is warm
