How To Make Sweet Potato Brownie

It may seem like a difficult recipe due to all the ingredients but it is very simple. You need an oven, a good blender, and an oven dish.

The blender will do all the work for you. To make these brownies start by wrapping the sweet potato in aluminum foil. Preheat the oven to 425℉ /200℃ and bake the sweet potatoes in the oven for about 45 minutes until soft.

You can also boil the sweet potato until soft this will take between 10-20 minutes. However, if you boil the sweet potato be careful it does not overcook and go soft.

You want a certain firmness to the potatoes. That is why I use the oven to let the potatoes go soft. It is slower but you have more control over the firmness of the potato.

Sweet potato brownie with chocolate is vegan, eggless and sugar free. It is a sweet recipe that is a super tasty dessert but you can eat it any time of the day.

Mash the potatoes into a soft puree. Then put the puree in a good blender and add all the ingredients one by one to the blender. Let it run and turn the ingredients into a smooth mixture.

As chocolate and nuts go together perfectly add pecan nuts and chunks of chocolate to make it extra yummy. Put this in a small baking dish and preheat the oven to 375 ℉/190℃. Line the oven dish with baking paper so it will not stick.

Then it only requires about 30 minutes of oven time.

Then you can take a bite of the most delicious gooey perfect sweet potato chocolate brownie you ever tasted.

In case you are wondering this brownie will not taste like sweet potato. The main reason to use sweet potato is to give the brownies lots of texture and a moist base.

This recipe is completely vegan, dairy-free, eggless, and sugar-free. I have substituted all of these ingredients with alternatives like:

  • Organic spelt flour
  • Apple sauce
  • Medjool dates
  • Agave syrup
  • Vanilla extract

  • Room temperature – if you want to serve the brownies within a day or 2 you can serve it at room temperature. Store it in an airtight food container
  • Refrigerator – you can also store the brownies in the fridge for up to 3 or 4 days. Wrap the brownies in aluminum foil or in an airtight container to prevent them from drying out and put them in the fridge
  • Freezer – if you want to store them longer you can store them in the freezer. Put the brownies in an airtight container or wrap the brownies individually in foil and store them in the freezer

Can You Make Brownies With Other Vegetables?

Yes, you can! It is quite popular to cook with vegetables when baking cakes and sweets. Besides sweet potato you can also make brownies with:

  • Zucchini
  • Black beans
  • Avocado

It might be a strange idea to make brownies with any of these vegetables. But believe me, none of these brownies will taste like vegetables.

They are all great substitutes for butter.
