Tuna Tostada Ingredients

To make these crunchy tuna tostadas you need several ingredients on your grocery shopping list. So be sure to get the following ingredients. Find the full recipe with all the measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Flour tortillas – you can use homemade flour tortillas but store-bought tortillas work just as well
  • Brown beans – turn these into refried beans to add flavor to the tostada
  • Vegetable oil
  • Egg – add some boiled eggs to the tostada
  • Onion
  • Tuna
  • Paprika powder – adds flavor and taste
  • Cumin powder – cumin also adds flavor to the tostada
  • Tuna – I use canned tuna in water but if you have canned tuna in oil, you can use that as well
  • Tomato salsa – add some salsa to your tostada just like this roasted tomato salsa
  • Guacamole – use one half of the avocado to turn it into guacamole and add it to your tostada
  • Avocado – the other half can be used in slices
  • Iceberg lettuce – add to decorate
  • Grated cheese – use your favorite grated cheese

How To Make Tuna Tostada

  1. To make this tostada recipe start with boiling an egg. Boil the egg for 7 minutes until the yolk is medium-hard. Then drain the egg and put it into cold water.
  2. Heat a small frying pan and add the vegetable oil. First, pan-fry the onion until soft and transparent. This takes about 3 minutes.
  3. Then add the brown beans, paprika powder, cumin and stir through before adding the cup of water. Let the beans get to a boil.
  4. Stir and reduce the heat to medium. Let it simmer on medium heat for about 10 to 15 minutes. Take off the heat.
  5. Preserve approximately 30 brown beans in a small bowl to garnish and set aside.
  6. Then transfer the remaining brown beans into a bowl and mash the brown beans with a fork. They are ready to use as topping on the tostadas.
  7. Tuna tostada is the perfect crunchy tostada recipe. Great for lunch or dinner.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350℉/175℃. Spray the tortillas with cooking spray or vegetable oil on both sides. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes, turn after 5 minutes.
  9. Slice half of the avocado into thin slices and turn the other half into guacamole. Start plating the tostada and start with the smooth roasted tomato salsa.
  10. Then the mashed brown beans before adding the avocado and guacamole. Drain the liquid from the can of tuna and put about half on the first tostada.
  11. Decorate with cheese, corn, lettuce, and brown beans. Repeat for the second tostada. Ready to serve.

  1. Boil the egg (I boil them for 7 minutes so they are medium hard), drain and put into cold water
  2. Heat a small pan with 2 tbsp of vegetable oil. First add the onion and fry them until soft and transparent. This takes about 3 minutes
  3. Then add the brown beans, the paprika and then the cumin and stir through before adding the cup of water. Let the beans get to the boil
  4. Stir and reduce the heat to medium to let the brown beans simmer for about 10-15 minutes
  5. Take the beans of the heat. Preserving about 30 brown beans for decorating and transfer to a bowl. Mash the remaining brown beans
  6. Preheat the oven at 350℉/175℃. Spray the tortillas with cooking spray or vegetable oil on both sides
  7. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes (turn at about 5 minutes in the oven).
